    Hi

I have the following problem when I do create an image with the wizard:

    - Using Image Creation Wizard (TrueImage v8.0 build 903)
    - creating a Full Backup image archive with COMPRESSION LEVEL being HIGH
    - On external HDD connected via USB2
    - Estimated Size of the image is 33.6GB
    - When Image creation has finished and I check the image file it is 55.5GB

How can this be? I would like to have a compressed image.
    Can somebody help?

    Thank you

What is the size of your uncompressed drive that you are imaging?

    Hello Max,

How much "Used space" are you imaging?

The image size reported by the Wizard is only a rough estimation based on the number of in-use sectors it thinks it needs to backup. If your HD contains a large number of precompressed files e.g. jpeg, mpeg, mp3 and vob, then TI's estimate will come out on the low side.

    Regards

    Internal Disk capacity 72GB
    Used Disk space 64GB

External Disk capacity 152GB (which I am using for Backup purposes)
    created Image size 57GB

Yes I have some .vob and .exe files on it.

    Hope this helps!

The .exe files should compress well but the .vob (and any other multimedia files) are already heavily compressed and therefore TI can't compress them much/any more.

Of the 64GB used space, how much of it is taken up by .vob, .gif, .jpg, .mp3 and other multimedia files?

    Regards

Probably 42-44 GB. Hmmm, that does probably explain it, right?
