    That's nice. Only 700 MB.

    See how this goes..

    imagew /b /d:w0@0x1 /f:wo0:"System backup %%~YY%%-%%~MM%%-%%~DD%%" /max:2Gib /vb /enc:3 /desc:"System backup %%~YY%%-%%~MM%%-%%~DD%%-%%~HHMM%%" /log:0 /vpd

The full batch file would be

    Is imagew.exe in C:\Program Files\TeraByte?

The command line is complicated. There is bound to be a mistake. Should there be a password?

im quite interested in this thread.
what would i need in a batch file to create an image of C: to Z:\IFW images
with verify, verify bfb. file name isnt very important. as long as with the IFD recovery disc i can see what date it was created thats fine with me.
having it run invisble would be nice.
imaging with this is faster than paragon and the recovery cd boots almost instantly. it can easily replace paragon once ive got the cash to buy IFW and know how to setup schduled backups.
ive done 4 backups and restores of my C: two backups using IFD and two backups using IFW. all 4 restored successfuly using IFD.

Use IFW ro show the command line, after you set things up the way you want. Then post a screenshot of it here. That way I'll have the exact command line you want. Also, I think it imoprtant to back yp to optical drive because because IFW cannot natively restore backups of active partitions.

You don't need to start again. You have completed the hard work. You just need to move the mata7tbos folder to the first HD. My mistake. I assumed, but didn't confirm that your D: drive was on the first HD. So move it to the data partition on your first HD. I think it's E: drive. Is that correct?

    Then edit tbos.bat to

    bootfile "E:\mata7tbos\tbos.bin"

Save it and confirm that the single line is correct.

After that, you are ready to double click tbos.bat. Is your backup image still called Vista32.bat? Whenever you are ready.

    Nathan,

Lets try a simpler one. I hope you have CD-RW.

    Does that work?

I get exacly the same errors; cannot find device, invalid parameter, and error 17. But it all works within IFW.

    hey n8chavez,
i will install it tomorrow and post the commandline.
hmm not sure about optical drives.
i was thinking about using IFD to restore all my images.
IFD is awesome, looked hard to use at first but once you get use to it its very easy to use and ultimate reliable. wonder if the next version will support incremental imaging because that would be icing on an already fantastic cake.

Do you see the same command line in IFW when you press F6?

I just tried it. Same errors as you. I'd email David and ask where we have gone wrong. Please let us know.

Excellent. Do you have mata7tbos in the C: drive?

Give me a little time to answer your other questions.

No. You leave that folder alone. Just keep creating images with your usual file names into the usual folder. When you want to restore a particular image you temporarily rename the image to Vista32.tib. Then tbos.bin will be able to find it. After the restore, rename Vista32.tib back to its old name.

Open tbos.bin in UltraISO or PowerISO.

Right click tbos.str and click Extract To... (make it your Desktop)
You can edit tbos.str in Notepad. Your contents should be..

    bootfile.exe
    image.exe /r /d:b0@0x1 /f:b2@0x1:\IFW\Vista32 /uy /v /a /o
    bootfile.exe /reboot

Copy and paste this into tbos.str, over-writing the previous contents.

    Click File, Save

Drag tbos.str to the UltraISO window, answer the question, click File, Save.

Right click tbos.str, click View and make sure the changes are present.

Do another restore by double clicking tbos.bat. It won't validate the image and it should reboot into Windows automatically. Let me know.

Edit Drag tbos.str instead of drag tbos.bin

But wasn't it wiped out when you restored the image?

That's clever. You can restore both OS with the same tbos.bin.

    Did it automatically reboot?

In summary, when mata7 wants to restore an image he renames the image to Vista32.tbi. He then double clicks tbos.bat, sits down to watch TV and have a Cuban beer and when he returns he's looking at the desktop of the restored OS.

    How relaxing.
