    Hi,

i'm using the trial version of IFW. I now want to make an image of C and restore it. Will i be asked an activation key during the restoration of image? Will i have any trouble starting windows again?

P.S. I got an error message while trying to start the restore from windows ("unable to lock C.. Maybe windows is using that partition). Is that you can not initiate a restore of Systempartition from running windows, so that you need to use bootmedia?

    Greetings!

You will be asked for a key when IFW starts and will have to wait a few seconds before you can continue. It won't interfere with Windows starting.

"Unable to lock" usually means something is using the drive/partition. Sounds like you're trying to restore the Windows partition of the running system. If so, that can only be restored outside Windows. Use IFD / IFL / TBWinRE / TBWinPE.

Note that if you multi-boot you can use IFW in a running Windows system to restore the Windows partition of other non-running systems on the computer.
