image backup

    If a backup image image is made in windows 98 with settings and files can this image be used in new os windows 2000 professional ? or other operating systems if possible ?

    Hello sajeel,

    Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    The answer depends on what kind of data you have in the image. If you create the image of a system partition and restore it in place of another system partition, the latter will be deleted. However, if your image contais only data (such as videos, mp3, .doc documents, etc.) and you restore it to the partition without any operating system you will be able to use the files from the image.

    Also you may always mount the image using the "Explore Image" wizard and copy the necessary data from it.
