    hello,
I am trying to backup my pihole raspbian setup but macrium reflect only sees fixed disks. I have found mini partition editor does disk backups but can't cope with different size of 16gb sf cards.

    any other suggestions?
    thanks
    Martin

What is the filesystem on these sd cards?
If it is ext4 then you may use dump command from Gnu/Linux live cd.

    Added:
You may also want to backup partition layout using fdisk or gdisk command.
Note that you should use dump on unmounted partition.
