    you mean 2 GB Ram or 2 GHZ DualCore?

    how comes that you think our software does make problems? can you please contact our support (support@ikarus.at) and send them the support log (Support - save support log) normally we can help each customer to find the right settings.

    hi..
    i installed Ikarus last week .. everything about Ikarus was ok..and i admit it.. but as u said it sometimes causes the intermittent hangs ( not continuously but fast one after another) that was really annoying , though i disabled the guard and protection , no chance & still experienced the same..somehow weird..
    but when i checked the memory usage status , one of Ikarus component was causing this , i don't remember exactly what the filename was.
    btw my ram is 1 gb
    but altogether Ikarus is a good job. who can deny it.

    1GB RAM is not that much ;-(
    We need nearly 250k of RAM because we load the virus database into it to have faster scans and no problems while working during a scan.

    Thanks for your kind Ziggy but I already uninstalled the software days ago. I have no doubt that way the customer support would have helped to find out what was going on here, however I decided to stop using it by now. You can rest assure I'll go that way the next time I try Ikarus again. By the way, my laptop has 2gb ram, 1.46-1.47ghz dualcore processor.

    You are right Ikarus is very good but, as always, everything depends on the computer it is installed on.
    In my case it was a bit different, Internet Explorer was suffering from cpu spikes while it was running, regardless of whether you are browsing or not.
    Because of that, every other task on my laptop turned to a tiny headache.
    However, I can assure you, Ikarus is a winner regarding to malware detection :thumb:

    when you try the next time contact our support if you have performance problems. 2GB RAM should be enough ;-)

    I tried to install the trial version but got a message that said there may be a conflict because I have Trend Micro SafeSync installed. Is this some driver conflict that can BSOD my computer or something less?

    I don't think so. SafeSync seems to be a file sharing application, it may be the installer is just confused over the TrendMicro name.

    Don´t worry. Ignore the message.
    I sent a request to our development to update the internal "Ignore" list regarding some other Vendors products.
    We need this list to give feedback when another AV Program is running because there could be huge problems.

    SafeSync is not a classical AntiVirus product so you can ignore the message.

    Just out of curiosity has anyone any experience of Ikarus on Server 2003?

    I have it on one of our webservers and it does a good job but whenever I log onto the server via console or RDP and double-click the Ikarus GUI it takes a good 2 minutes to come up.

    The server has plenty of resource, everything else is fine just Ikarus.

    Been trying to get a demo licence off these guys for two days. Site reports an error at the moment, although before that I've had four messages saying it's been sent to me. But nothing arrived. Support is slow and to be honest, a little hopeless. I even emailed Ziggy who resides here and is an employee. He said he'd help, but still nothing. I'd be tempted to say they are a waste of time tbh. This is the first time I've tried to try their product and up to now I'm thinking they are totally incompetent.

    Anyone got any opinions?

    Hi Paul,

    didn´t you receive my emails?

    i already sent you a trial licence for 30 days via Email.

    Also normally we log the Emailadresses that order Trial versions and after 3 times we lock the Emailadress and send an error message.

    It´s up to everyone to go to Kaspersky or whatever but to be honest yo will never find a better direct support (except a callcenter agent is good enogh for you) from a vendor like ours.

    I would echo Ziggys thoughts. Ikarus is one of the most understanding and helpful vendors out there. Great product and customer service. And dont even get me started on compairing Kas and Ikarus.
