    I found an old registry tweak for IE, and I installed it, and I've noticed IE7 really running quite a bit faster.

    Here is the key:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
    "MaxConnectionsPerServer"=dword:00000010
    "MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=dword:0000010

    Has anyone else every used this and had good results too, or can I push it a bit further to 11, or 12 and get a bit more speed?

    Basically what I'm after is trying to improve some of the lag in IE7...

    Also this tweak seemed to help moving between tabs without them freezing...

    THANKS for any info...

    P.S. After trying the tweak I changed the settings on both to 00000008, which seems more fluid, 10 seemed to cause sites to load so fast that images weren't properly loading...

    That tweak has been around for quit some time. IE 5.5 anyways. It has gotten mixed reviews as to its` usefulness. Each PC\ISP combo act differently so your mileage will vary as well. You can try higher numbers but if I remember correctly there is a point of diminishing returns for to high a values.

    You can change it via IE7Pro Addon as well along with other things. ;)

    00000008 is working really nice, at this point in time I'm quite happy...

    I've never been one for add ons or plugins, just something else to go wrong. I've read a few mixed reviews about IE7Pro. I'll just be happy with it the way it is now, seems to have improved a lot for mean anyways, and getting HIGHER mileage now, LOL...

    THANKS

    I also never liked addons, but IE7Pro changed my mind. IE without IE7Pro is like using Windows without CCleaner, it is something unthinkable.
    By the way, I forgot to mention, that IE7Pro added prefething webpages like Firefox does, which can improve your browsing speed as well.

    Based on your recommendation, I downloaded IE7Pro and it's a great little app. One question though....the settings are currently @ default. Do you suggest "tweaking" anything anywhere (ie ENABLING "enhanced prefetching" or "prefetch DNS") or leaving it at default?

    Thanks.

    I use only AD Blocker, Online Service to backup settings and favorites and Mini Download Manager, which does, what IE download should have done for years.
    Give prefething a try and you will see, if it improves your browsing. I do not use it, because I have good connetion and I visit only about 10% of my favorites.
    OpenDNS already improves my browsing by somewhat better response time and by blocking "bad stuff" like porno, raciszm and ect, so I do not really need it.

    I just Added the IE7 pro,My browser was already speedy but the difference is very noticeable now. my web pages are turning in the blink of an eye.I have one question In tabs for favorites to not want this for favorites, If I remove the tick box then restart browser its checked again.It seems like it has a problem to remember my settings.Example I am on Google start search, I go to my favorites Wilders being one of them. what happens is a tab opens but not Wilders page, I have to double click the tab to open that page.Any ideas pleaseo_O?

    I reinstalled my box, and I'm not going to update it to put in IE7, I don't plan to ever use IE ever again, what a crap browser...

    For now I'm going to use K-Meleon, it's not big with a lot of gooides to boot, but if you want a nice fast browser this is the machine to have... :)

    Are you saying you will never update security patches/fixes again.As far as I know you need IE for the windows updates and some sites will not function proper or at all. Do not most online virus scans use IE and will not function with third party browsers or am I missing something here.

    Yeah, even Firefox is vulnerable, when IE is not properly patched, that aplies to other browsers and aplications as well. Just update IE and block it in a firewall. ;)
