Interesting, mine took about 3 minutes on win7x64.

Anyone able to make IE9 save the username/password combo for wilders? :/

Installed it on Win7 x64 running smooth. Very nice. Upon opening for the first time was greeted by the "beautyoftheweb" page. Clicked on experience at the top, and still having too much fun on these websites. They look awesome esp the bmw and imdb sites, plus the silly games lol. The objects move so fluid like on screen.

I'm running IE 9 on Win7 x64 (desktop) and x86 (laptop). On the laptop Firefox 4 beta 6 does a lot better than IE 9 on the hardware acceleration tests:

    http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/

That may be related to the graphics chipset (Intel 4 series express). I will run those tests on my desktop which has an Nvidia 9600GT and see if the results are similar. It would be interesting to run these tests across a number of video adapters.

    Update:

I ran the fish tank and psychedelic tests on my desktop and IE 9 was faster than Firefox 4 beta 6, so apparently the chipset makes a big difference.

yeah that is the only real drawback i see is for people who do not have really fast hardware. sure its nice to have this speed but many people buy the very basic laptops and desktops with intel 4 series graphice built in.. they may not get the added benefit of the new browser.

I have state of the art equipment. Microsoft has chosen to crap on Vista users today and I hope I am wrong. XP got left out if if Vista users are being intentionally delayed, well, Microsoft sucks.

Installed and running fine on Win7 for me.

Compared to other IE releases, they got this one right. Well done.

Compared to all other browsers, "yawn". Not much to be excited about...

I installed the BETA in Win 7 x86 and it took precisely 2 minutes and 45 seconds . Then the long restart that installed updates

Understandable some add-ons don't work as they should be.

However I am starting to hate IE9 (just because I am not used to the way it works now) . They copied from Opera and Chrome 's styles ! When you open a new tab , it shows your last visited pages/most popular ones in thumbnails . What if somebody have opened some porn page hours ago then someone sitting behind them hours later and they click to open a new tab - this a privacy problem .

Additionally , they we now save files is the same as in Chrome. Damn!!! :thumbd:

I had exactly the same problem on Win 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 Beta. Resorted to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2409098 which gave me the info I needed. Had an update waiting under Windows Update requiring a reboot. Once done, IE9 had installed over IE8 which I would have liked to have been warned about!! Have attached Update details below: -

Then one would assume they would use Porn "InPrivate" mode so nothing was saved.

Has to be a problem specific to your machine. I have installed it twice in Vista virtual machines and have had no issues. They are 32 bit, don't have a 64 bit one to try, but I expect if I did it would work. I hope you find what is causing the issue.

Well this was disappointing, downloaded for Vista x64, it "installs" the updates (yet there is no network activity at all), and then simply closes... nothing else, no process, no folders...nothing... :doubt:

I've emailed Microsoft, hopefully they can help.
