icmp packet type 8?

    hey, ok so i updated my D link dir 655's firmware to the latest 1.32NA and i noticed a new blocked incoming request - icmp packet type 8?

    can anyone here explain what it is and should i be worried?

    ICMP Type 8 echo request is used for ping if I am right.

    Correct.

    It is just your router dropping pings from a remote machine, quite possibly your ISP's server. Nothing to worry about in the least. I'd urge you not to get too caught up in packets your router is dropping, especially when they are only occasional in frequency. There's a lot of Internet "noise" or "unsolicited traffic" that router's drop. It's just doing its job. If you are seeing frequent drops from the same ip address or address range, then maybe report it to your ISP.
