My NOD32 AV licence expires soon.

I am unsure - shall I renew it or shall I take a free or other (cheaper) AV option?

I have MBAM pro and LooknStop (trial).

    Thanks.

Well, it's up to you, if you want to try a free AV you should try Avast or MSE.
If you want change to another paid AV try Kaspersky.

If your MBAM is a trial you can try Immunet Free.
If you want only a firewall try Comodo firewall without AV and Defense+

If you are not a very noob user and you want a free and very complete security software you should try Comodo.

If you find the Comodo internet security complicated. A good alternative is this:

    1) Install Comodo Firewall (wihout AV) and them deactivate Defense+ permanently (you can do it in Defense+ options, and you will need to restart the computer) and the Sandbox (if the sandbox has been been installed.) http://www.comodo.com/home/download/download.php?prod=firewall
    2) Install a free AV like Avast http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download
    3) If you want to add an additional protection install this:
    - Immunet Free: www.immunet.com
    - Safe Online "Free": http://www.prevx.com/safebook.asp

If you want a paid product and a full suite I would recommend you Kaspersky IS

If Eset has given you no problems and you do not mind paying out again then stay with it.

So if you are not happy with NOD then by all means go with a free AV.

But rather than looking at a blacklist scanner as your main line of defense think about a "sandbox" application- Sandboxie(free)/Defensewall/Geswall(free) as you first barrier, then you can use any well-known (free) AV as backup.

:thumb: With Sandboxie, for fast and effective I like either Avast or ESET NOD32 with WinPatrol and sometimes MBAM Pro turned on.
