    Hi

I just checked and found that HTTPS Everywhere is not showing its counter despite ticking the 'Show Counter' check box. Apparently, the ticking is not sticky.

I have no problem in Chrome showing the counter

    Anyone has the same problem?

Yes, same on 52.3.0 ESR, but in my playing around yesterday I did see the counter working for a while. I think there is a clash with another extension.

If you mean the counter that shows forced encrypted connections, then it seems to be working for me, also using 55.0.3 I don't otherwise use https everywhere, so forgive me if I'm referring to the wrong thing here.

    Yes, that's what I meant.

Can you go to the HTTPS Everywhere extension itself --> Options and see whether the there's a check mark in the 'Show Counter'?

I can check mine but it's not sticky

    Yes, it is checked.

    Here too.
"Show Counter" was checked by default and the extension was functional in several browsers:
FF ESR, Cyberfox, Firefox, Waterfox, ...
The issue with the missing counter was mentioned in the Review-section at AMO:
"The new version on ESR does not work [...] was the counter deleted?"

Could be kind of conflict with other extensions.

Yes, mine was checked. It seems to be the default choice.

Not related to that specific problem - but are there any advantages of HTTPS Everywhere over Smart HTTPS (revived) which I'm using? I had used HTTPS Everywhere in the past and remember that it uses rules which mostly work and sometimes don't. While I haven't run into any problems with Smart HTTPS. That's why (and because it's not limited to sites covered by those rules) I prefer the latter.

Thanks, I have just switched to Smart HTTPS. It is as you say. HTTPS Everywhere is purely signatures based, no signatures = no SSL. Smart HTTPS works on any webpage.

I just installed Smart HTTPS and it has the same problem of not displaying its' drop down menu in 55.0.3 (the counter in HTTPS Everywhere works, but the menu is blank and I can't get into the options). The same is true for the latest versions of Ublock-O and Privacy Badger. I was able to get the uBlock-O menu working by going back to v1.13.8. I haven't tried getting older versions of the others to see if that would fix them.

Interesting. What extensions do you use and do you have e10s enabled?

HTTPS Everywhere is still not showing the counter on FF / CF here. Has anyone found out why?

I've disabled most of my extensions and as far as I can tell, HTTPS Everywhere is not working.

    Thanks Paul.

I just installed FF 56 over ESR FF 52.4 and reset FF, then installed my extensions. Looks like HTTPS Everwhere is working here now, but still not on Cyberfox.

    Cheers.

So far it looks like CanvasBlocker could be the culprit. Further testing required.

It's a weird one because it works until I close FF. Next time I open FF it isn't working, then I close FF and open it again and the counter is working again.

Edit: Nope, it's not CanvasBlocker either.

OK, fresh new profile on FF 56. This time I didn't install Privacy Settings and the HTTPS Everywhere counter is working. I also haven't installed No Resource URI Leak as apparently it doesn't work with FF 55 +.

    Cheers!

This is no longer needed for FF57+ as it is built-in (bug).
