How would you restore performance?

    lol, yes installation is not too bad. Setting up all your stuff just so is the slow part. That is why I spent so much time on unattended installations. My install takes roughly 30 minutes, and then everything is done. I wonder though how many hours over the years have been invested, and if it would have been fewer if I just installed normally lol.

    I've decided that I will optimize my current HD, order a new one and try it with a fresh OS install per the recommendations above.

    If I have any trouble setting up the new HD, I can simply use the old HD until I get things straightened out.

    Probably a silly question: does removing picture files improve performance? It would definitely free up some space...I still have over 15gb of pic files which I don't need....
