how to use HOSTS file?

    how do i manually add websites to my HOSTS file?

    Hi nadirah,

    Well, I'm going to assume here that you want to "block" some sites with your Hosts, so the quickest way is to simply open your Hosts file in Notepad and add the hosts (sites) that you want to block in this format (examples):

    127.0.0.1 adsite.com
    127.0.0.1 www.badsite.com
    127.0.0.1 images.adserver.com

    And so on. It is important to note that the first entry in your Hosts file should always be:

    127.0.0.1 localhost

    And, that all the sites you add should be below that line. Here are a couple links that describe Hosts file in some more detail:
