How to speed up Windows 7 on 1.2 Ghz core solo netbook?

    Given you can buy a dual core 2.2+ laptop for around $75 these days, unfortunately there is little use for a single core. But 8.1 might make it usable, if not, then surely Linux will. But the cost of admission to 8.1 ($40-$75) might negate it unless you have a download or CD hanging around, otherwise Linux would be the way to go IMO.

    Interesting.. I found out we had 3 dual core PC's in the house that were unlockable.. They were Dual Core 3.4Ghz machines, starting to feel really old, and slow. I unlocked the 2 extra cores, now they feel snappier than hell, like new life breathed into them - quad core 3.4ghz.

    Pretty silly how they core lock, but thankfully we can almost always unlock if we research. That's a really good tip!
