    Hi,

Snag-it added two for this picture. I guess like me, my computer needs to go on a diet.

    64. CPU usage never goes above 5.5% except spikes to 9.5% whenever BoClean does its thing.

Minus task manager, 23 running processes.

0-2% CPU usage with the occassional spike to 4, as someone else said.

When I first answered this poll back in 2005 I had 41-50 processes running. Now when I look I have 66 directly after boot and about 74 normally, and still the computer is lightning fast :)

I keep my systems very light.
    From the poll:
Very possible if you don't run XP or Vista. This PC, my 98SE testbox, has 11 processes at the moment, 10 at bootup. I could drop it to as low as 5 processes. At bootup, it has 96% free resources. Total memory usage is 55.1MB once bootup is finished.
My primary PC, 98FE has 15 processes at bootup on my user profile, 17 on the profile made for other users.
My Win2K unit has 14 processes at bootup.

My security package (Kerio, SSM, Proxomitron) accounts for 3 of the processes on each OS.

Yeah, specs has a relevance, I know :)
But they are quite moderate today imo
Vista 64 with every possible bloat enabled (except superfetch and Readyboost)
    Intel Core 2 duo 2.66Mz
    4GB 800Mhz RAM
    Geforce 8800GTS

    Back in 2005 I had
    Windows XP
    Athlon XP 3200+ (2.3Ghz)
    1 or 1.5GB 400Mhz RAM
Some then high end Radeon card I cant remember name of anymore.

On PC 1: 69 processes CPU useage averages about 7% and physical memory is 31%. That seems like a whole lot of processing but very little taxing on the system.

I'll post PC 2 in a separate post when I am on that machine.

13 processes. Browsing and listening to music, could easily be slimmed down to below 10.

11 running processes, XP Pro SP3. Boys, you use many more Windows services than you really need. :)

Im browsing the web as I post this minus faststone screen capture, opera, and taskmanager, I would have 4 total processes using XPproS2.
I could get it down to 3 but svchost kept starting up each time I killed it couldnt capture it in time. OS could actually run just with system and system idle process.
At bootup I normally have 10 processes.
