SugarSync: Not only can it sync documents between all of your devices (including mobile) it offers DropBox compatibility where you can only share certain files in a "Magic Briefcase" instead of syncing directories etc.

I have my entire "My Documents" folder done like that

Also provides 5gb for free...10 for about 3 bucks.

Because if you used Win 7 x64 Cobian 9 did not support VSS. VSS support for x64 was added in Cobian 10.

This doesn't apply to you, so we can drive on...

    haha, totally agree.
copy/paste is the simplest and best way to go.

HAHA. It is certainly overlooked and easiest in many cases. I do this from time to time...or use GoodSync to just replicate the files.

  17. Docs = SkyDrive + USB.
Music = SkyDrive (Not Shared) + Portable HDD + another copy on PS3 for entertainment.
Videos = No copies as of right now.

Thanks for asking this question. :ninja:

got things backed up to internal drives, external drive, USB stick.

and i just started lately to use Spideroak, a very good online storage backup which had very good privacy and security features.

it only offers 2 Gb free but you can get up to 10 Gb free with referrals.

PM me if you want to give it a try.
you and i will get an extra Gb free for the referral. :)

Spideroak is good, but lacks open/locked file backup. Thats a deal breaker for me.

I don't agree and I tell you why. I backup my D:\Program Files folder and once I do a FULL BACKUP, I only want to backup any CHANGES.

Any good program recommended for that? I tried Auslogics one but it began giving me errors.:'( I think Karen's Replicator can backup CHANGES only?

"Program Files" folder? You will need a backup app that supports open/locked file copy. Also, why are you trying to backup Program Files?

Karen's Replicator hasnt been updates in years. I recall, Karen, passed away. Plus it never copied locked files.

My preferred universal file backup apps are Syncback and KLS Backup. Syncback has a generous licensing policy. They permit a single license to be installed up to 5 PC's when used by a single home user.

I put OS and program files on C:\ and all other data (mainly documents) on D:\ or E:\. I Installed all programs and all updates and image C:\ using acronis and image for dos/linux. I never do incremental backup as it normally takes too much time; I Just restore the image file I originally made and update OS and program files. Believe me, it's much faster.
For documents on D or E drive, I just copy/paste to at least 2 external drives and for the most important files, I also back up to the cloud, mainly spideroak.

Because my Program Files are on my D: and W7 is on my C:. I use Macrium to backup C: and regularly I backup D:\Program Files.

So I may try the Syncback FREE. Will the FREE copy locked files? Or you need to pay for SyncBackSE to do that?

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Back-Up-and-Recovery/SyncBack.shtml

Anyone know of a FREEWARE backup program that backs up locked files as well?

You will need Syncback SE or Pro for locked file support.

Only other freeware apps I am aware of that support locked files are Fbackup, Genie Timeline and Cobian.

Obviously, there may be others but this is what I'm aware of. Seriously its worth the $35 for Syncback SE and you'll be able to install on 5 PC's you own. And you can easily upgrade to Syncback Pro for $20 if you ever need to. Been using Syncback for years and aside from it not natively running as a service, its a fantastic backup app.
