    Hello,

I am really curious as to how DefenseWall and GeSWall will protect my system in the event of a malware attack. As such, I want to test them with "live" malware. I am aware that the forum policy does not allow posting links to malware. So, can someone please PM me a link where I can get "live" malware?

    Thanks!

first if you want to test one of those programs asure that you back up just in case and use a virtualization tool to reboot and restore for not damaging your
    system.:thumb:

or just visit strange links or visit chinnese or russian websites that contain
cracks or porn and you will test how secure is DefenseWall or GeSWall:D
viewers discretion is advise.at your own risk.

well in general in these days everytime you are connected to the web you are in the darkside whether you like or not, just start surfing and bam you are in trouble:D

    Hello Ambient,

When you do not how to find malware now, it is very unlikely you would break either GW or DW. It would also be unlikely that you could evaluate which one is more effective based on your own testing.

Three months ago I got some 1000 malwares of a friend having a honeypot. both DW and GW kept on their feet when using it against them (when the malwares were 'fresh') currently every freeware AV deals with this set. So finding malware alone is not enough. it also has to be relatively new "in the wild".

So when you would like to buy one, the most important buying consideration would be: useability in regard to your personal (or family) PC usage habits.

When I feel a need to test my online guards, I simply deactivate my ptotecting HOSTS file, opening it to find and use some wild addies there.
I'm using DW & Proxomitron with K-Meleon (incl. NoScript) and Opera as browsers, and this setup has always been rock solid, until now.

run it 30 days then test it against Avira and Bitdefender. Neither will find squat. Know of a better test?

The auto termination killed the web content and closed my browser On I assume the sites that had the nasties.I have to be honest, I was expecting to have to restore a clean image. The scanners say No and my machine is running great.

Yes Seems to be extremley good.Funny I had geswall on the back burner for trialing.I was busy testing other stuff, I kinda forgot about geswall until a post from trjam I think.I Looked over some notes and realized I have not tested it.but not just for effectiveness but to see what its about and for learning experience.I am going to purchase the pro before trials up.

your typing for the screenshot if you see your destop in the box(test)then you are not protected but if you dont see anything(empty)then Geswall is protecting you againts from keyloggers capturing your destop from been capture.

When all of you take a break from beating on each other, would somebody please explain what I would get for the extra $16?
    I'm serious.
If these two are so close to each other in terms of ability, how does one company get so much more money.
I'm probably missing something, so please point me in the right direction.
    Thanks.

I ran the keylogger test and it got nothing from GeSWall. :thumb:

However, when I run the Clipboard Logger Simulation Test Program, I do see the copy & paste text in the test user interface.

The test notes say: "All cut/copy/paste operations you perfom will be watched in simulation window. A clipboard logger will secretly monitor and save your operations similar to this simulation program."

What does that mean? I'm thinking that seeing the text in the simulation window is not the same as failing the test.

I ran the keylogger test, and DefenseWall successfully notified me of the keylogging attempt, with the option to terminate. By allowing it to run, it logged all of my keystrokes.
