I've been using Toucan and BackupMaker to make archives and they both work pretty well for smaller folders but when I try to back up larger ones, say 15-20 gb or more, it gets painfully slow, especially if I'm copying to a flash drive. I'm looking for a faster way to backup large folders, and also be able to password protect them. I don't want to install any bloatware programs either (preferably below 60 mb). You guys know any tricks?

You could use a backup program that allows multiple backup sets. One backup set would use low/no compression and include folders and/or file types that you don't wanted compressed (much).

Areca Backup (Java required) can do this, I believe.
