Anyone else having problems right now logging into Hotmail?
I can't get to the login page with XP, W7, Chrome or IE8 or IE9, yet DownForEveryone says it's just me. :(
I think it might have to do with https login, but not sure.

Try to authenticate from msn.com - this will isolate if the issue is a hotmail problem or a live authentication issue.
If you can authenticate, try getting to hotmail from MSN.

    Cheers, Nick

    I go to...
    http://www.msn.com/
then click on the Hotmail link at the top of the page...
    http://www.hotmail.com/?rru=inbox
    and it does not resolve.

In addition, none of these work either...
    http://www.msn.com/
    http://www.hotmail.com/?rru=inbox

    http://login.live.com
    https://login.live.com

I have not tried Cudni's suggestion yet.
    I'll do that now.

Maybe you could clean your temporary internet files and all cookies, uninstall chrome or firefox or ie, and fresh install them and check if something change.

Of course, may you already do that.

I just logged in from Chrome in the US- no problem.

However, I did get a warning message - apparently they are limiting password length to 15 characters. I was instructed to use the first 16 characters of my password - my full password had been 18.

That worked fine and I was right in.

I'm having problems logging into several places in addition to Hotmail. Norton DNS just blocked my attempt to log into my bank because of a redirect to some other server. Tried calling the bank support but long hold time, some major problem I think.

Mostly I can't even reach the login page, so it isn't a password issue.
Once or twice (out of many numerous attempts) I did get a login page, and the password worked but the account info display was all strange and no inbox or email was accessible, and none of the links worked. But mostly, no login pages even resolve.

I've restarted router, cleared all cache, closed IP block in MBAM, nothing works.
I guess I will just forget it for now and see if it gets better by itself.

Like I noted, it's happening to me on two different computers, with two different browsers and with two different operating systems. Ugh.

Around 7 a.m. (CST) this morning I could not Login to either Yahoo Mail or Hotmail. I could not even reach the Login Page. I tried both the latest Firefox and IE8. I will not be able try again until later.

    You're all using NortonDNS?

Just found this on the Norton forums posted today:

"All blocked websites are aliases to the edgekey.net domain which is owned by Akamai and

is currently blocked by Norton DNS.

A large number of companies use their services so the problem is affecting many websites."

Good idea to check DNS service.
I switched from Norton to Comodo, and I was able to consistently connect to Hotmail login page (wasn't able to do that previously), and even experience what I will call a limited connection, wherein I can login but only see account features such as:
    Overview
    Notifications
    Permissions
    Billing

but no Inbox or email folders whatsoever.

Then I tried Google DNS service and got the same limited access.
I flushed DNS cache and retried connecting with Norton DNS and the results were the same 'limited' account access.

So, my thoughts are that Hotmail is having trouble and all I'm doing is monkeying around, and any slight changes I might experience have more to do with MS trying to restore Hotmail than with me making minor changes here and there with this and that.

    I found the problem.
    Ghostery.
Soon as I disabled it, all my email access came back.
Embarrassed, but happy I figured it out.
    Mostly embarrassed.

    You and me both, rules.
I also have a relatively new HD all of a sudden making a lot of noise
    (never a good sign).
I now have to start looking into warranties and cloning and replacement before it goes belly up.
A little snafu from Ghostery and Hotmail is no biggie, I suppose.
    ;)

I checked about 5 hours ago and now. I am no longer having any problems with reaching the Login Page and doing a Login.

Thanks for reporting back, TheKid7. I keep vacillating between thinking it's MS's problem and my problem. It's certainly more convenient to say it's their's. Guess I'm back to Plan A, which is wait it out. ;)
