I'm having a huge performance hit on my QNAP NAS drives when I scan files before doing a sync. The performance hit is a whopping 74% when scanning using Wifi. The problem is definitely HMPA. I had to uninstall it to get my performance back. What takes 23 mins. with HmpA installed, only takes 6 mins. without it installed. The scanning task is exactly the same under both conditions. I see this problem on all my systems where HMPA is installed (W7-32 W7-64 W81-64 W10-LTSB-64. Someone really needs to look into this problem. HMPA not activated so I can't turn anything off. The BSODs I reported previously related to Shadow Defender hasn't been fixed to my knowledge. For some reason Sophos thinks it's low priority. It looks like Sophos has finally fully taken over. Erik would have fixed this long ago. I wonder what answer Sophos will have on this one.
