    net stop hmpalert
    hmpalert.exe /uninstall
    Reboot

That is also what the uninstaller does. Don't know why this is not working on your end. Would really like to have a remote session to isolate the problem!

net stop hmpalert only stops the service until I reboot.

    Run > hmpalert.exe /uninstall = hmpalert.exe cannot be found.

    Have you any other ideas?

    Thanks.

Make sure you are in the folder wher hmpalert.exe is.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\HitmanPro.Alert\hmpalert.exe /uninstall

If its not there, download hmpalert again and run that with /uninstall.

There isn't an uninstall option at that location.

When I try to install again I get a prompt to reboot for the protection to start, then I get an error code. I missed the code, sorry. After rebooting it does not look like it has installed. There is no Hitman Pro Alert in the Start Menu or in Uninstall a Program, so it appears I can neither uninstall nor reinstall now.

Had the same problem today while uninstalling latest beta.

    What I did:

put hmpalert.exe on desktop, rightclick hmpalert.exe and go to Properties
    copy Location: e.g. C:\Users\123\Desktop

    open Command prompt (as admin)
    I get c:\windows\system32>
    Add cd\ (enter)
    I get c:\>
    Then rightclick and Paste
    I get c:\cd C:\Users\123\Desktop (enter)
    Finish with c:\Users\123\Desktop>hmpalert.exe /uninstall (enter)

    Hope this helps.

    My problems where similar.
cmd.exe (Command Prompt) was broken after i did uninstall it, and uninstallation hmp.alert did not work, after windows reboot, i did still have fly-outs, but:
    No hmp.alert at start-up -menu.
No hmp.alert at Control Panel's applications list.
No hmp.alert Process at Task Manager.
It was then impossible to remove it, because there was no button to do it, and also install over it did not work.

I fixed my problem, see quote:
    I also did remove hmpalert.exe from C:\Program Files (x86)\HitmanPro.Alert

My OS is same (Windows 7 SP1 x64), but Security programs are different:
Emsisoft Anti-Malware, Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus (Webroot Filtering Firefox Extension disabled),
    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro, Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit.

Okay, that does an error 31 and event 7000. For some unknown reason, Hmpalert.sys will not start.

In order to cut down the variables for the cause of this problem, I reinstalled using only my updated wim. There are only two programs installed as seen below and problem still not solved. I will now try the original 8.1 install.wim without any Microsoft Updates and report back.

Okay, I went all the way back to the RTM of Win 8.1. Installed Win8.1 Pro using all defaults. No Windows Updates, no Media Center, no installed programs except for HmpAlert. See the log below. If there are any other commands you'd like to see listed, let me know.

    I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1

    So far:
    1. I uninstalled, rebooted, confirmed the exe and dll were removed,
    2. reinstalled, confirmed the exe is present in program files [x86] and the dll is in both the system32 and syswow64 folders (confirmed dll version is 2.6.2.72)
    3. I can run hmpalert.exe and have the UI display as usual.

But still no fly-out when I load a browser, such as Firefox or Opera. When I run Process Explorer I see the service running but do not see hmpalert.dll running under firefox.exe or Opera. Am I missing something? Please advise :)

I'm not getting the flyout when I start either Firefox 27 or IE11. Windows 7 with Avast, Siteadvisor, and MBAE running.

Even if you don't get the flyout on browser start, is it still protected by HMPE?

Thank you for your elaborate report :thumb:
Is the hmpalert.sys in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ folder?

Make sure hmpalert.dll is loaded in firefox.exe using Process Explorer.

Also had problems uninstalling the version before 2.6.1.71, used control panel, nothing would happen, tried to close control panel, could not. Tried to restart computer froze, had to do a hard shutdown. Booted up, tried to install 71, would not install, error 0. So what I did is delete all folders, anything I could find in the registry and any drivers I could find. After I did this I was able to install 71, have not tried installing the latest version yet.

Eric, I am using WSA 8.0.4.57 (the latest beta) and HMP.Alert 2.6.2.72 works fine.
I get the flyout on both Firefox and Chrome - Sandboxed and not Sandboxed.
hmpalert.dll shows for both browsers in Process Explorer.

    Win7 x64 pro
    WSA 8.0.4.57
    AppGuard
    Sandboxie 4.08

Definitely. I even renamed it to hmpalert.sy_ and then ran net start hmpalert and got the following:
    Code:
    C:\>net start hmpalert
    System error 2 has occurred.

The system cannot find the file specified.

Renaming it back and restarting results in error 31 - not functioning.

Where do you look in the Process Explorer UI to find hmpalert.dll loaded in Firefox? I see it Properties/Threads for Opera but not Firefox.

Can't find an entry in WSA indicting it's blocking Alert 2.6. I'm seeing hmpalert.dll loaded in firefox.exe and opera.exe but no fly out, however I do get the fly out with IE 11.

Please check the Flyout settings in the Settings GUI of hmpalert.exe.

You can get to the GUI by starting HitmanPro.Alert from the Start Menu > Program's > HitmanPro.Alert or you can double click on the hmpalert.exe.

    See this image:
    http://www.surfright.nl/images/alert256-settings.png

Make sure it is set "At browser start".

Just wow. Bizarre that the driver can't start on your computer. Right-click on the file and see if its properly digitally signed?

In addition, can you run the command 'sc query hmpalert' in a command prompt? And past the results in a post?

Hmpalert.sys runs on Win7 and XP on the same laptop. I just can't make it work on Win8. o_O
    Code:
    C:\>sc query hmpalert

    SERVICE_NAME: hmpalert
            TYPE : 1 KERNEL_DRIVER
            STATE : 1 STOPPED
            WIN32_EXIT_CODE : 31 (0x1f)
            SERVICE_EXIT_CODE : 0 (0x0)
            CHECKPOINT : 0x0
            WAIT_HINT : 0x0
