I assume I'm on my own with this problem since no one else is seeing this on Win8

    Sigh, Al

Installed HitmanPro.Alert 2.6.2 Build 72 Public Beta and reinstalled Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit 0.09.5.1000 (Vista 32 bits).

FF 27 (latest release) and IE9 start unsandboxed without a problem. Also the flighout works as it should be.

    Thank you Surfright.

Finally cmd.exe is fixed, i did repair install .NET Framework 4.5.
1st it did seem it do nothing, but maybe 2nd or 3rd reboot did do the trick.
Or it was hmp.alert new installer that did do something.

new hmp.alert -version did not help on my "Fly Out" -issue.
i did remove some hmp.alert Registry keys and did delete
hmpalert.dll from System32 -folder and from SysWOW64 -folder.
hmp.alert FlyOut is gone now, finally.

i did not test if i can install new version. i may test it some day.

ps: my english is bad, i'am not sorry, i'am too happy to be sorry:)

Erik, the latest build crashes Firefox Nightly 64 bit on my Windows 8.1 system. I have EMET at the recommended settings and get a DEP error.

262 is working good for me.

I may have had a botched 261 install by not undoing CryptoPrvent's settings first before I installed HMP Alert 261, thus the problems afterwards.

Erik, I simply cannot get hmpalert /service to work. I reinstalled win8.1 and
then hmpalert and still no luck. I created c:\log, but apparently this beta has no logging like HMP did.

Does hmpalert have a debug or logging function that might help me find out why the service is not starting?

Even if you say no, at least that's an answer :D

I've attached a procmon log filtered to show hmpalert entries after starting the service. I can't make any sense of it. Maybe someone else can see something. Just remove the .log and open it with procmon.

Since installing 2.6.2.72 I'm not getting a fly-out when I start a browser. I confirmed the version (by looking at the "details" tab of the executable properties) and also that the service is running. Anything I should check? TIA

Install security software=Webroot SecureAnywhere, MBAM Pro (resident) and McShield (resident USB scanner).

No, I'm not kidding. I have everything pretty much automated. I have an install wim with the latest patches that I use to do the install. Takes about 10-15 minutes to complete. It's a clean install and not something I backed up previously.

What Windows version are you using?

Can you check whether hmpalert.dll is loaded in the process using Process Monitor?

I'm afraid so. I'm slowly running out of ideas. The strange thing I just noticed is that if I enter net start on a cmd line,
HitmanPro.Alert Services is listed. I then tried to stop it and start it again which both worked. So it looks like the service
can be started, but I still get no fly-outs. No idea why the eventid 7000 is showing up on every boot though.

    Erik,

Just to let you know, I am having exactly the same problem trying to uninstall 2.5.6 as I had with my earlier attempt at 2.6. I can't get my browsers to open, even though I still get the flyouts, and now I can't get Command Prompt to open either.

And WORSE, I can not even shut down that system. The shut down button is not clickable. I'm beginning to think HMP Alert is almost as bad as the malware it is designed to protect me from!

Why doesn't this program uninstall cleanly?

I have no idea! I've seen no one else with this issue, must be conflict with other software. What OS and security apps are you running?

    net stop hmpalert

    ... should stop the driver.

You need to start the driver as well with "net start hmpalert". That'll produce the 7000 I think, don't know why though.

    It is Windows 7 SP1 x64

My only real-time security software is Norton 360 v21

    I use Secunia PSI 2

    I have SpywareBlaster installed.

MBAM and SAS free versions as on demand scanners only.

How to I remove HMP Alert from my systems?

    Thank you.

net stop hmpalert did stop the driver... until I restarted my system.

Please let me know how I can rid my computers of this program.
