I've just uninstalled the previous version on one system, rebooted and installed the latest version and when I tried to restart it is now not shutting down. All I'm seeing is the spinning circle and it says shutting down, but it has been like that for more than 5 minutes so far.

I may have to force the shut down.

    Windows 7 SP1 x64.

    Thanks.

After uninstalling HPA on that system I am facing a similar problem, except this time when I restarted it didn't even get to the Shutting Down screen, instead it was stuck at the logging off screen. :(

Edit : Now that I have restarted I am still getting the flyout even after this program has been uninstalled!

OK now I' had the same problem on my other system It crashed IE11 so I thought I'd uninstall - Would not shut down after uninstalling, and I am still getting the fly outs.

I am unable to install the old version now too as I get an error "Unable to Install".

This version IS NOT compatible with my systems, both W7 SP1 x64.

Hi Erik, Isn't 2.0 the current stable version?
That is what I'm using on the other systems and they show green flyouts once installed. 2.0 is the current version being offered on your website. I thought it supported Win8.1. I'll try the beta and see what happens.

    Run:

    Hmpalert.exe /uninstall

    ... to uninstall.

What products are you using? I need this info to determine common denominator of the problem so that we can reproduce and provide fix.

Uninstalled 2.0 and installed 2.6 beta. Still no fly-outs - same as before.

BTW, the 2.0 uninstaller leaves the following remnant reg entry behind:
    Code:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HitmanPro.Alert]
    "Hardening"="00000001"

For the beta, I see eventid 7000 Service Control Manager:

The HitmanPro.Alert Support Driver service failed to start due to the following error:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.

Possible problem with hmpalert26.exe. Firefox and IE9 crash after installing hmpalert26.exe. No flighout either. After uninstall via hmpalert.exe /uninstall no more problems. Vista 32 bits.

Tested with another laptop with Vista 32 bits, Sandboxie 4.08 and hmpalert26.exe installed.

Firefox and IE9 start normal with a flighout but sandboxed they won't start. Error Sandboxie: initialisatie DLL-bestand mislukt (SbieDll.dll). Uninstalled hmpalert26.exe, laptop wont shut down.

Erik, any ideas on the eventid 7000 I mentioned above, which may be related to the missing flyouts?

If driver cannot be started, then most certainly this is the cause of the missing flyout. Is the driver blocked from starting?

Not that I know of. I have no other security apps installed other than HMP and HMPAlert. I also turned Windows Defender off. I get this eventid on every boot. Any ideas on how to get closer to what is causing the problem?

The 8.1 system is pretty much a vanilla install. At the same time the eventid 7000 occurs, I also see eventid 5038 Microsoft Windows Security Auditing:

Code integrity determined that the image hash of a file is not valid. The file could be corrupt due to
unauthorized modification or the invalid hash could indicate a potential disk device error.
    File Name: \Device\HarddiskVolume11\Windows\System32\Drivers\hmpalert.sys

I see the code integrity error on Win7 too, but that doesn't seem to cause a problem. Maybe 8.1 is different.

Does anyone have HMPAlert functioning on 8.1 and do you see any indication of event 5038 in your security log?

Edit: Installed on 8.0 and no fly-outs there either. Security log looks clean though.

First it seemed, that the new version 2.6.0 beta solved the issue with bitdefender antivirus, but I encountered frequent crashes of new tabs in chrome and crashes of various add-ons.

So I decided to uninstall HMPA, but after that win7-pro-64 did no restart, it went into "shutting down", but did not.
After reset I had flyout again and intruder alert in Chrome and IE.

Of course I uninstalled previous version and rebooted, before installing 2.6.0

Could not uninstall HMPA, even with /uninstall it did not work.

    Time to quit HMPA.

I will give it another try, when those problems are fixed.
Looking forward for a stable version, or another beta, that is improved.

    Hi Erik,

As I mentioned in a previous Private Message, I am using the current version of Norton 360, v21.1.0.18.

    Thanks.

Did you try this? Run as admin the command prompt hmpalert.exe /uninstall

    Works here.

Win7 x64 HMPAlert 2.6 installed and now working OK.

Did have one browser crash at startup - but cannot be sure HMPA was responsible, or whether it was related or not.

Flyouts appear and no other obvious problems since.

I cannot tell if I`m being protected though as I have never had an alert.

If the flyout appears you're protected.

    I have Bitdefender-Antivirus-free 1.0.21.1099 installed an running.
Also Sandboxie is installed and running, but not used for browsing.
    WIN7-64-ultimate, fully patched, legal licence.

Without HMPA everything is running smooth, no browser crashes, or anything else.

On my notebook I am running WIN8-64-pro, and Bitdefender-free Antivirus.
no other security software, no system-tools.
Same issue here. beta2.6 is running better, than previous version, but sometimes new tabs in chrome crash.

I've already managed to fix compatibility with Avast.
Still working on Sandboxie-on-Vista compatibility. In addition solving Outpost issue. Stay tuned for beta build 2.6.1.

Thank you al for your very valuable feedback :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

    Hi Erik.
my suggestion is, not to spend to much time in making HMPA compatible with exotic security solutions, like sandboxie and outpost-firewall.
If compatibility is possible, without compromising HMPAs efficiency and protection, please do so.

Major goal should be compatibility with most common security software,
like Avast, Avira, F-secure, Malwarebytes, Norton and so on.
