Sorry for being slow in my reply.

This did the trick. I also learned how to make alterations for any other programs I need now.

Guess I'm not to old to learn a new trick or two yet,

Thank you for your help and guidance everyone. Jeff

It seems this version works somehow better with Avira Web Protection when downloading files in Opera. I did a quick test and 7 out 20 downloads were corrupted, the rest were fine.

Still too many to rely on Avira Web Protection to be activated with HMPA, but at least things are moving in the right direction.

    Congrats on becoming a dad!

I am using Zemana Antimalware and MBAM. Both are using their active resident real-time scanners.
And no, nothing using Keystroke encryption.

I was just about to write about the Media Player Classic Home Cinema issue.

I use Media Player Classic Home Cinema Portable and have the same issue.
I haven't tried to add it to exclusions, but will try it now and see if it works.

UPDATE 1: It still not working when I have added the following file to exclusions: \MPC-HCPortable\MPC-HCPortable.exe.

UPDATE 2: It only works if you add the file \MPC-HCPortable\App\MPC-HC\mpc-hc.exe file to exclusions.

Guess that's the actual app which is doing the heavy lifting, which has the issue, not the portable starter app.

Can I be a beta tester for HitmanPro.Alert?
    Where do I sign up?
Do we get full licences if we participate in beta test?

No need to sign up, just download the beta posted here:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...iscussion-thread.324841/page-445#post-2613228
Note that there are no separate beta licenses, so if you want the full functionality you'll need a normal license.
There is no formal/official reward for beta testing, but they have given away free licenses in the past.

    Wow....tough bunch.
Doesn't motivate the people out there to do their best spending their own time testing for no reward.....I'm just saying....

You are in their holiday period. They are actually a good bunch and liberal in there licenses. They may just want a longer period on Wilders to establish your residency here. Email them and see.

The Zemana Blog article references to the MRG Effitas "In-the-wild Ransomware Protection Comparative Analysis 2016 Q3", that compares Zemana AntiMalware and four competitor products, among which HitmanPro.Alert.
The MRG Effitas article mentions that the HMP.A version used in the test is HMP.A build 3.1.10 373 (which was released May 30).
I haven't examined MRG Effitas testing methodology, I cannot say anything about that.

Aah... Thank you very much, Hiltihome. :thumb:
I thought there was something familiar in MRG Effitas' report, but I couldn't find out what, and I didn't think of Mark's July 23 post. A little silly of me, I'm sorry.
Thank you very much, once again, Hiltihome, for reminding me.

It seems at though you can beta test for only a month because 553b tells me I'm out of time. That limits my usefulness here.

You can go with both, HMP.A and ZAM. They do not interfere.

HMP.A is a signature less and cloud less anti-exploit and anti-crypto-ransom tool, and more.
ZAM is basically a cloud based AV, and more.

You can even combine both, with a basic signature based AV, like Windows Defender, aka Security Essentials, on WIN7.

But let's go back on topic: HitmanPro.Alert.

You should indeed email erik or mark, there should be no time limit on beta testing.

I definitely want to respect your vacation and paternity leave, so please have a look at this later, when you're back in office.

I notice an issue with HMP.A 3.5 (currently using 3.5.1.553) and the application Eraser (using Eraser version 6.0.10.2620).
Of course HMP.A CryptoGuard would block erase methods that apply multiple passes and/or write random data.
But I have Eraser set to use British HMG IS5 (Baseline) (1 pass) as erasure method, which is only one pass of zeroes.
HMP.A versions prior to 3.5 didn't interfere with Eraser's British HMG IS5 (Baseline) (1 pass) erasure.
However, HMP.A 3.5 does interfere with Eraser's British HMG IS5 (Baseline) (1 pass) erasure.

Is this expected and normal HMP.A 3.5 behavior?
I thought HMP.A shouldn't interfere with single pass zero wipes?
As I mentioned, HMP.A versions prior to 3.5 didn't interfere.

Adding Eraser.exe as a HMP.A exclusion doesn't make any difference.
    Temporarily disabling CryptoGuard works fine.
    So, no biggie.
But still, I thought HMP.A shouldn't interfere with single pass zero wipes, and this seems to have changed with HMP.A 3.5.
Could you please have a look at this, or explain why this changed with HMP.A 3.5?
    Thanks very much.

But for now, please enjoy your vacation and paternity leave, and have a look at this later, when you're back in office.

Probably expect also, but HMP.A was stopping me creating Windows 10 installation media on a USB drive with Rufus. After uninstalling Alert I could get the job done.

Temporarily disabling the "writing to MBR" detection in HMPA is enough to create such a medium with Rufus (at least when I had the same "problem").

Did you try with the HMP.A CryptoGuard MBR protection feature disabled?
I think that should've done the trick.
    Wasn't that mentioned before?

    Edit:
Ah, and XIII mentioned it just a moment ago. ;)
