    Hi,
I just have one small clarification reg. cryptoguard protection scope, am not clear if its been answered before in this thread..

Does Cryptoguard's driver is capable of preventing malicious file operations done by other ransomware or is it only crypto ransomware as the name suggests?

    Thanks, Harsha.

CryptoGuard's driver only prevents personal files from getting malformed on fixed, removable or network drives. It is not an antivirus.

I have this same issue on one machine (Win7), another one seems OK (Win 8.1).

I fixed it by installing the old version again (I had the exe) uninstalling it, and install the new one.

Please run hmpalert.exe /uninstall to fix this problem.

A new build will be out tomorrow to address the issue.

Please let me know if this helps.

And then out of the blue it suddenly works o_O :D
I was doing something in safemode, not hmp related, disabled bluetooth radio device and disabled nvidia updates service). After a restart and opening a browser HMPA popped up.

Anyone else getting chrome crashed while using 2.5 beta? I get a shockwave crashed and ABP crashing. It also didn't care of zenmate.

Thanks for reporting. We've received no other reports of Chrome crashes yet with Alert 2.5. What is ABP? Zenmate is a VPN extension for Chrome? What should be done about it?

  19. I understand, would be nice to have such an additional 'real time' component in HMP alert. Area's not covered could stille be 'warn on browser' launch only. Allthough inject all in combination with an installed driver should provide you much 'head room' to come up with solutions.

To my knowledge the 'inject all' was discussed by Pbust now from MBAE (then working for Panda) to overcome kernel protection limitations on Windows 7 x64. Tzuk (from Sandboxie) and Pbust discussed this 'crazy idea' briefly. I think it is nice that an innovative Dutch IT company has used 'it takes a thief to catch a thief' approach to realise no-user-interaction security (post intrusion warning).

You are able to establish legiteate origin of DLL-injections with this 'crazy' idea, so why not make use of it in real time also, to prevent browser session misuse by malware code intrusion :D

    Thanks for responding anyway

I know there is/was a compatibility issue between Alert and Norton. Also I know MBAE (in Beta) and EMET also had their problems but I've not read causing them severe slowdowns. I see -a lot- of security products are running in that Dell thread though. One of them could cause incompatibilities. There are so much tools that it is hard to test all combinations.

Aha also a Chrome add on. If Alert 2.5 is uninstalled, does the problem go away?

Under further investigation, it wasn't any of the chrome extensions. It was WSA causing the problem. It's only crashing chrome and not firefox. I have both protected with WSA identity shield but only chrome crashes when run.
