What versions of Win, HMP and HMP.alert are you using? I think this info is a prerequisite!

    Hi there

Now running v3.1.0 Beta Build 325, and have noticed that contrary to previously the only browsers that are registering under 'Safe Browsing' are those that are installed, i.e. IE11 & Edge, where as the portable versions of the likes of Chrome, Firefox, CyberFox, Waterfox, Opera, Maxthon, etc. which were supported/recognised & protected under previous builds, are no longer protected and there is no option that I can see under 'Safe Browsing' to add them in manually.

Is this now by design or is it a bugette?

    Regards, Baldrick

Portable browsers have never been automatically recognised, unless they register themselves as a browser on the system (they normally don't).
To manually apply mitigations to a portable browser follow these easy steps:

    1. Open the portable browser (and leave its window open)
    2. Open HitmanPro.Alert, e.g. from the tray icon or the Start menu
    3. Click on the gear icon the top right corner and select Advanced interface
    4. Click on the blue tile called Exploit mitigation
    5. Select Running applications
    6. Select your portable browser (it's listed under NOT PROTECTED)
    7. Select the Browsers category

Now, close and re-open the portable browser for the changes to take effect.

Background: Most people don't know where their applications are stored or located. Also, most applications are behind or stored inside a hidden system folder. Thanks to our Running applications method you don't need to change system settings and you are always sure the correct file/process is protected by HitmanPro.Alert (you cannot make errors).

    Hi Markloman

Many thanks for the heads up...what is interesting is that I had these portable browsers covered by HMP.A previously...I am not dreaming as I was getting the popup to advise of this plus the border around the browser window...so I am not sure where or why this has changed.

Will follow your guidance and get the portables protected once more and then check carefully for if and when this happens again.

    Regards, Baldrick

@erikloman, you saw my e-mail, right? Just want to be sure.

Hi Baldrick - I have a number of portable browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Cyberfox, Vivaldi - added via method Mark describes) which have been retained. Maybe a clean install could have removed them?

Hello, using for the last 2 weeks the stable version, so far so good.
The only problem is with sdelete (from sysinternals suite), i get an alert & block from time to time, although i add "sdelete.exe" to EXCLUDE apps.

The exclude is only for exploit mitigations. There is currently no way to exclude an application from CryptoGuard. Maybe in the next few builds.

Please look at your inbox again. Some days ago I updated the translation because one of the update strings was too long but I'm still not sure if you saw my message. Yesterday I asked you if you read my message but I wasn't referring to the message about your site (and you replied to it yesterday) but the message about the translation. So please download the translation from the same URL as before, it should be the last update for now, at least I hope so.
Sorry if I'm annoying as recently I released quite many updates but I just want to make the translation perfect. I don't know, maybe you're busy and not always have time to reply but it would be nice to get any reply when I send you something so I can simply be sure that you read my message.

I'm replacing a computer at the office. Does anyone know how to transfer the license from one computer to another?

Good question. I'll be building a system soon and will want to transfer to the new one as well.

Sent you a couple of days ago an email + minidumps concerning two BSODs I experienced on the same day I installed HMP and HMP.A. Checking if you got it and how I should proceed (at the moment have uninstalled HMP.A). Thanks

You can try to activate your existing product key on your new computer. If it says that the maximum activation count has been reached, just let @markloman, @erikloman or support@hitmanpro.com know and they'll check your key and fix your problem.

When it comes to HitmanPro.Alert, what decides what is a new computer? I mean, I often upgrade components in my computer and sometimes make a complete re-install of the OS and so would like to know if updating any specific component or re-installing Windows would cause any issues with the license?

Currently, an activation is bound to the windows installation.
In the near future an activation is bound to hardware.

If you run into issues with the license, just contact me.

Thanks, could you share what specific hardware would be checked in the future? (Motherboard, CPU, GPU etc)

If you already have an active HitmanPro license, you can still benefit from this offer by activating the new product key once your current license has expired.

So, the license starts on the day of activation, not on the day of purchase?
