I acknowledge and this confirms with precision what I had in mind based on a global understanding of the way HMP.Alert is designed.

    - "A user can also add their own applications, though this is for advanced computer users/IT professionals."
    - "Average users should not add applications to exploit mitigations as some applications do not like to be mitigated (eg. Spotify)."

This is clearly stated, be it as clearly understood ...

Why not remove it if/from whatever group you've added it to? You won't be facing a disaster, believe me.

I like that you can add your own applications if you want, just be prepared to troubleshoot issues, like with you need to do with EMET for example.

    Good idea :thumb:

The popular one this weekend was 'American Express'.. But yes, a brain.. Double extensions, Packed EXE's that show up as archives. SCR files masked as PDF. .. No matter how well we secure clients, some will still click and run stuff... :'(

HitmanPro.alert calls HitmanPro for the actual scan!
I am using HitmanPro(now build 240) for several months. The last 2 months together with HitmanPro.alert 3 (now build178.
I let HitmanPro handle all scan results, Repair, Delete, .... So far no complaints or reasons for regret!

Will I have any problems migrating the license to Windows 10 which I may upgrade to? Not that I won't buy this software, it's one of the few I'd spend my money on other than AX64 Time Machine.

You can migrate your license to Windows 10 whenever you decide to make the move. Just try to activate your license. If you run into problems, just contact our support, Erik or myself.

You can use a 'one-pc-license' twice. One for an initial installation and one for a re-installation or migration to another PC. Although I'm current using this option to run one license on both my main machine and on a separate 'mitigation testing' machine

How do you add Windows Compressed ( Zipped) Folders Extraction to HMPA? Do have 7-zip also.

Good question. Although since powerarc is set as default so from explorer that is what the default is. I suppose you could add 7-zip is it runs as a separate exe

Added 7-zip executable to HMPA (OTHER) mitigation template. Flyout appears and all mitigations checked.
One could associate 7-zip (options) with zip files so Windows Compressed (Zipped) folders wouldn't be used.

Simply don't add every random application. The chances of getting hit by an exploit targeting 7-zip are pretty slim.

Zip files may contain malware. According to erikloman (developer) if an app can open content that came
from the Internet, it is a valid candidate for mitigation.

I don't add every random app and this was just a testing of 7-zip with HMPA.

Other than the known issue of PDFs not having the blue border, no problems to report so far with build 179.

Are you using EXE Radar Pro? I think the alert message to allow the keyboard got blocked by a tool.
