PCMag never tests a program real capabilities. Or they test a program in a way it is not meant to be used (MBAM was not mainly made for removing rootkits and keyloggers) When they test an on-demand second-opinion scanner they say the lack of realtime protection is a disadvantage (Hitman Pro review: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2348569,00.asp quote:"Cons: Lack of realtime protection. Oh really? :doubt: o_O )

But you said it ain't Malwarebytes, but you haven't said it ain't Panda or Kaspersky :).

That is exactly what I mean with "not testing real capabilities" or "what a program is designed for". Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.46 compared with other recent and RELEVANT products. How low is that guy's knowledge. He puts it on a chart with all products meant to be standalone realtime security apps. He should judge MBAM by comparing the strong areas of MBAM with the weak areas of the antiviruses/suites. Since that is what MBAM was designed for, be good at the areas av/is aint good at.

I agree either of Kaspersky or Panda would be a great addition. Maybe more so Panda due to the fact that they are very active on these forums just like Surfright. Would be easy to collaborate with each other.

While updating to the latest beta build 598, I had a BSOD involving Malware Defender.I also have Online Armor in this snapshot. I took a quite a few screenies after rebooting from the BSOD.(A lot of popups...the fun of HIPS, or not) ;)

I now seem to be able to run the current 3.5.5.598 without installing to the C:\Program Files directory.

I haven't seen any issues here with the latest beta and MD.

So you say Immunet 2.0 is going to have other multiple AVs in their cloud like Hitman Pro?

My impression was that the PRO version of Immunet 2.0 would have multiple AV scanners eventually that scans in real-time. But in the beginning only one AV scanner. I could be wrong though.

Erik, it will have multiple scanning engines, not multiple scanning products from different vendors.

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

before you roll your eyes so fast, this is an entirely new approach. You can have all the different engines from vendors you want, and it does work very well for Hitman Pro, I will be the first to tell you that.

But this approach is new. It is what each engine does and what areas it is used for. And the ability to use all, or adjust to only the ones you feel you need for areas. Nuff said, already said more then I should have. Look, we have all done betas and personally, I wasnt looking to do anymore. But this to me it is a radical new approach at malware and, if, sucessful, IP we be well know very fast. I do know from not my own private testing, it worked just as it was designed to do. There are some very talented people working on it who have the ability to not just look out of the box, but look as if there never was a box.:D

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

If you will check my last post in the IP thread, I stated current version is not that great. And I also know that a vendors in-house testing is, well, not quite like Wilders testing. But I know who told me what and I know I was told fatual information, so that is why I am in line waiting like all. Is it the cure all? No. But it will address some issues that 95 percent of products have issues with addressing.;)

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

let me talk about Hitman Pro. They are as close to having the best solution I have ever seen. The only hitch is real time protection that I still think may happen one day. Just think if you could use it and enable all the different vendor engines for real time protection. Pretty heavy maybe, but what if you could enable just those you wanted to in Hitman Pro for real time protection and use others for back up, or, conformation scanners on the fly of something detected. A better chance of actually catching more malware, with a good chance of fewer false positives. I have always envisioned that this is where someone needed to go to really make a dependable product. The issue I am sure, is getting multiple vendors to commit. But I think it is closer then we know, especially with Hitman Pro. And yes, the ability to choose no real time protection and just use it as a backup scanner.

Well, lets just say that IP may, be the first to introduce this concept with 2.0, with a few cool twists thrown in.

I don't see this happening trjam only because they use other vendors engines and it's probaly in the contract that they can only use it On-Demand or on Boot up but no realtime protection but I would like to see full system scan for Paid users like mentioned before!

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

I have a question regarding hitman pro:

Provided that the scanning is really very quick, it obviously doesn't scan all the HDs contents. I suppose it scans the running processes, start up locations, critical files/folders etc. So hitman will definitely catch an active virus in my PC (not in archives obviously) ?

I am asking because it already missed a spyware. As I do not have any real time Anti-Virus or Anti-spyware, I depend on on-demand scans. At the moment I rely on Malwarebytes for A-S and Dr.Web Cureit for A-V scans.

I use Cureit every week and Malwarebytes every other day. Last week I didn't use Cureit at all and Malwarebytes found a password stealer JUST after a scan from Hitman Pro. The location of the Password Stealer was @ C:\Documents and Settings\MIKE\Local Settings\Temp\

I am not criticize the product, but since I rely on on-demand scans I want to be sure that it will catch any active virus.
