I have no experience with their products but DrWeb (doubt it) would probably be a good addition.

Haha! Gotta love ya for being funny as well. :D This is exactly how a dev. should communicate with its community - very professional and "human" at the same time. :D :thumb: BTW, my friend did eat too many eggs - he told me how much his stomach hurt yesterday during football. :D

Nice to hear this news , erik

I would like to ask, would Hitman support sub-directory scan for right-click scan(maybe in future)?

If they don't mention anything, people ask 'what's the news?'. They tell us upcoming news, delays happen, and people say, 'why did you tell us the news?'

    ;) :p

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

We are going to release a beta version of Hitman Pro 3.5.5. This since we have changed quite a few things in Hitman Pro and we need to be sure that everything works great when pushing it out to every user.

The beta will be available this weekend. I will post the link to the beta here at Wilders Security Forums.

I'll suppose this will actually update the x64 version too?

Which are the AV engines in the cloud that hitman pro uses to check for malware?

    In alphabetical order:
    • a-squared Anti-Malware 4.5 (uses a-squared and Ikarus)
    • ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.0
    • G Data AntiVirus 2010 (uses BitDefender and Avast)
    • Prevx 3.0 (direct link with their cloud)
    A total of 6 engines.

We are still in talks with other vendors.

To me, those vendors are enough. All are exceptional on their own.

But if you're planning for more, I won't complain. If not, I won't complain. :D

If I had to choose another, kaspersky or panda could be good. Dr Web could be an option.

So says mine, although I don't know if it still uses it.

Next to that I agree with Saraceno that those 4 vendors are enough because they all have some exceptional qualities.
I hope Hitman Pro only adds vendors to it's cloud that really add something, like the current 4 do. So I don't really see any advantage in like adding Norton or McAfee (I also don't expect them to come, since they don't license their engine to other vendors anyway, like BitDefender, Avast, Kaspersky).
Indeed Panda (which already uses a cloud: seems like the most logical addition to the Hitman Pro cloud) and Kaspersky would be the only good candidates (in my eyes).
Although adding Malwarebytes (which ofcourse won't happen) would be absolutely fantastic, because that would make Hitman Pro an unmatchable good on-demand scanner (which it probably already is).

FYI, McAfee could be a good addition and to a lesser extent Norton.

A new vendor wouldn't hurt us, more benefits!! :D
Avira was good in the mix, why they left the cloud?

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

McAfee and Symantec have a high level of 'trust' in the corporate environment, so either of those would bring significant benefits with corporate sales. McAfee might not be quickest to the scene on an infection, but when it does label a file as malicious, it's usually right.

As firzen pointed out, getting either of those might require signing 10 000 pages of paperwork, or something like that. ;)

There's always something like Vipre. Could also be an option, considering their focus and detections with spyware (counterspy engine).
