Good, maybe they can also look at the getting-stuck-on-some-.dll ad infinitum issue. Doesn't happen all the time, just often enough. Or maybe it has something to do with one's machine? I just re-downloaded HitmanPro, too, so it should be clean. Any other explanation?

I've got similar experience. It's not problem with specific dll (they are different files showing for me). It looks to me like some time out before next phase of scanning begins.

Yeah, seems to be a connection-timeout.

    Hi @erikloman and Hi @markloman

Can you check the 6 Files and whitelisted the 6 Files please. I use the FP function into the Programm to submit the Files to you

    With best Regards

    Thanks very much.
I tested HMP 3.7.20.286 beta on Windows 7 x64. It runs without any issue.

    "Scan with HitmanPro" (286 Beta):
    HitmanPro_(3.7.20.286beta)_contextmenu.png
Edit: I forgot that this is a beta, not a stable version.
If someone don't want to wait for the stable version but want a contextmenu "right now" with the beta-version:
Edit 2: If there an existing file "hmpshext.dll" in the directory, the new beta doesn't extract the fixed version of "hmpshext.dll" into this folder.
The file "hmpshext.dll" must be deleted before the beta of HitmanPro is able to extract the new version.
    a) Diable the contextmenu in the options of HitmanPro
    b) delete the file "hmpshext.dll" (if it can't be deleted, a restart might be needed before it can be deleted)
    c) After launching of the beta the fixed version of "hmpshext.dll" can be seen in the directory (digital signature: Apr 06 2017)

I'm confused. Edit: But that is not unusual .

I don't think the x64 link in #7582 is correct but I downloaded and installed from the site what appears to be the correct download (shows up as 3.7.20.286 Beta after install).

However I still don't see the right click scan shell command above. Win 10 Pro x64 1703.

Please can someone post the correct link for x64?

The correct download link for HitmanPro 3.7.20.286 Beta x64 is:

    http://dl.surfright.nl/HitmanProBeta_x64.exe

A HMP beta version doesn't install, it only runs, thus it doesn't fix the installed HMP's shell extension issue.
I'm not sure what mood did to fix the shell extension using the beta.

Thanks @Stupendous Man @mood. Looks like I have the right version then.

So the shell extension should reappear when it comes out of beta? Not sure how / if @mood is seeing it now ...

    I disabled the auto-update for HitmanPro with a registry-key
    Code:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HitmanPro]
    "AutoUpdate"=dword:00000000
and copied the file HitmanPro_x64.exe to the location c:\Program Files\HitmanPro\HitmanPro.exe.
So the installed version is "overwritten" with the beta-executable.

I imagined that was what you did.
But in C:\Program Files\HitmanPro there is also the hmpshext.dll shell extension file.
I thought that needed to be fixed as well - and copying the beta exe does not fix that.
But now I suppose copying the beta exe is enough. Edit: No, it isn't. See mood's reply #7594 and mood's edited post #7584.
    Thanks very much, mood.

    Yes, it should.
mood explained in edited post #7584.
But I suppose the new version will be released in a couple of days, if you can wait for that, you can skip mood's workaround.

    Yes, i forgot that.
If there is an existing "hmpshext.dll" in the directory, the beta doesn't "extract" the new (and fixed) version of it into the directory.

They should release it as a stable version, so that all will be automatically updated to the new version and have easy access to the fixed context-menu (without having to edit the registry, copy/delete files, etc. #7584)
    :doubt:

Usually, with HMP, the release is only a couple of days from the beta release.

    I sure hope so Stupendous,
I uninstalled 3.7.18 with Revo Pro, ran Ccleaner and rebooted, then for all intents and purposes I ran Ccleaner after reboot just to be sure.
I then downloaded from above 3.7.20 installed it, note that I have Premium HMP.A, so anyway I installed 3.7.20
Went into settings and configured a scan knowing full well this will trigger the creation of files in the default install location.
ie the settings file, well looking to make sure I checked the location and found that also the "hmpshext.dll" was back in place.
Afterwords I open HMP.A, at this point I want to ensure a good working HMP so I am going to trigger a Scan from within HMP.A
upon doing so it reverts itself to 3.7.18, something in HMP.A also saves a backup of some type ?
I watched all my work revert back in the couple min it took to run that scan.
This is some disturbing behavior Loman Brothers for a software to exhibit, and with out the initial "Explorer" issue
I would have most likely not had a chance to experience this type of behavior.
I have almost 2yrs left on my license and am considering trashing this and going to a viable alternative.
Not to brag, but I have a Custom Built and recently upgraded DigitalStorm system, I don't have time for these
kind of software games. Something very strange is going on with SurfRight software as of late, I don't know if they are adding, removing, tweaking crap, or what ever, but it is causing some weird happenings not just related to the Explorer issue.
Anyone else having the beta revert back to 3.7.18, even after a clean uninstall ?

As stated before, a HMP beta version does not install, it only runs.
Mood presented a workaround for that, see mood's posts #7590 and #7584.
However, I do not know what happens when, after using mood's workaround, one runs a HMP scan from HMPA.
And I am not sure what you did, if you did what mood described -- if not, it probably may not work as mood intended.
Your result may be the outcome of the fact that a HMP beta version does not install and/or the method that you used.
