After looking at your application its a Yahoo Chat device, if its anything like some of the other IM's spyware goes with the territory. I used to use the MSN Messenger until i started receiving Malware in the chat window, before clicking on the link i would email the "friend" it was supposed to be from they knew nothing about it.. ;)

I just had hmpshext.dll crash on an XP system when I tried copying a file from one folder to another in explorer.

    I am running v3.6.0 Build 138.

This issue appeared to have been fixed, but it has come back.

The only thing that has changed is I did update MS Critical Updates today.

What version of the hmpshext.dll do you have (its in ProgramFiles\HitmanPro)?

    Interesting.
    It's 1.0.0.1.
Most recent version is 1.0.1.1, isn't it?
I don't know why I still have that older .dll?
I can just copy it over from my other machine, which does have the newer version, and probably fix the issue, you think? :)
Edit in: Done. Pretty sure that fixed the crash. Thank you, Erik. :thumb:

When you went to 138, the update was/got borked and it did not replace all of the files it should have. This happened to me too. My guess was the file did not get updated because I had the problematic option turned off at the time of the update.

I also found that updating to 3.6 that it didn't remove hitmanpro35.sys in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers Folder so I had both 35 and 36 and I just deleted the obsolete one! What else is still hanging around Erik?

Yes, the MS Updates installed today had nothing to do with the little issue I ran into. :)

Yes, I also had drivers from 3.5 and 3.6, but they are the same 1.1.4.0. Is this correct?

Follow-up: Regarding posts 3750 thru 3761, which discussed Agnitum's use of a suspicious installer that was being flagged by HMP and a few other scanners, I did contact their support. After more than a month of email exchanges, I received the following from Agnitum support:

I think it would be great if an option could be added to perform right-click scans in EWS mode.

    Erik,

Scan at Startup used to wait 24 hours before doing the next scan. Now it scans every time you logon. If I choose daily I have to set a time. Can you add 'at Startup' to the around: drop-down selection in addition to the times?

That way, one could choose daily or weekly etc. at Startup

I tried daily and selected a time earlier than my local time and the scan does not kick in if the time has been passed. I did this on XP. I'll try later on Win7 and report back.

If you set it at Daily (or a Weekday) then the scheduler will set the timer at a time in the near future. So if you move the clock backward, or of you set the timer at Daily around 9:00 and it is already 9:01 then the next scheduled scan will occur tomorrow at 9:00. If your laptop falls asleep and awakes tomorrow at 9:30 then the scan will still take place.

    Hope this helps.

Well, I haven't seen a scan since I set it to daily and 8:00AM. It has been a few days now. I usually logon around 11:00AM or so. It doesn't seem to be working on my system. I checked the scheduler and there is no entry there, so I assume the running HMP service is supposed to take care of that.

You see the hmpshed.exe process in task manager?
