Wait for the 128 fix and pm developers when in need of a new trial

As I've said before, HitmanPro is the only AV I have on my machine - exploring realtime AVs right now.

Just wanted to report, yesterday, out of curiousity, I ran the ESET online scan - 40 min., over 70,000 files. The only thing it picked up was an AntimalwareDoctor Trojan file in WIN32/MBR which it cleaned/quarantined. AntimalwareDoctor attack occurred a year ago after I had installed HMP. HMP immediately disabled the popups, rootkits, and I've had no trouble since from that malware. Nasty thing must have buried itself really deep. Anyway, out of over 70,000 files scanned, that was the only thing ESET found. Haven't tried MBAM, yet.

HMP deep scans slightly over 15,000 files every time. Clearly, it does a great job with a very light footprint.

Yes it is. Deleting the license file results in an inactivated application. You should activate the license when you want to remove malware.

inactive HMP will work as on demand scanner as usual
it only means you haven't activate the trial license (to be able to remove malware)

Many, many thanks in advance. :thumb:

I understand. I already have a license but i didnt want to use it until I am infected. Moreover I support HMP and would purchase it always rather than taking advantage of its license remove & activation thing :)

I've just tried running Hitman Pro as a portable program after uninstalling, but miss it's right-click menu. I cannot seem to install it again, the executable always launches the main program now. Please help.

Searching and deleting registry entries worked. I just hope there's a simpler and quicker method.

When a new version of HMP is released can you just install over the old one? And will it recognize your key?

Yes and yes. In fact, it updates automatically to the new one once you run HMP (also usually without issues).

Unless you are on a limited user account. I have found that you have to be logged in as an Admin. to update. A little frustrating to say the least, Erik is this going to be addressed in future versions?

You should NOT run Hitman Pro 3.5 under a limited account. How should Hitman Pro remove malware when malware runs with system rights and Hitman Pro runs without any? Under Vista and Win7 administrator rights are enforced through the elevation manifest.

    Hope this helps.

Very unlikely on installed version, because it's within Program Files. That is unless you change security permissions.
Possible on portable version if you put it in a folder modifiable by limited users.

Just a quick note to express my appreciation for Erik and his staff.

I received a gracious message this morning from Erik stating that he was unable to locate my (inadvertently) reactivated license and so he sent me a new license good for 30 days should the need arise. (Hopefully it will never need to be put to use.)

He signed off by saying "sorry for all the trouble" when, in fact, it was my error that caused the trouble to begin with after he had come up with a mass fix for all of us whose 30 day licenses were expiring due to a "bug" in a recent version of HMP.

To say that Erik has gone above and beyond and has earned my admiration and respect is to put it mildly. Thought it was worth mentioning here as well. :thumb:

I was able to activate the 30 day trial with no problem. I cannot switch to a full scan. Are there some steps i should be taking. Also I am unable to check the "automatically upload box" It seems to be grayed out.
