I have a new Dell laptop. When I run Hitman Pro it tells me that the following files are malware. All are in intel\bluetooth\
    devmonsrv.exe
    mediasrv.exe
    obexsrv.exe
    btplayerctrl.exe
    and
btmshell.dll "Contains high amount of malware related properties"

NIS and Malwarebytes tell me these files are fine.

How does Hitman work actually ?

I can see that it uses Ikarus engine among others , I just had virus alert from Emsisoft (Ikarus engine found it) about one file , VT reports that Ikarus thinks it's a trojan (several other engines as well) , but when I scanned that file with Hitman it didn't flag it as malware.

    I'm confused.

    Likely outdated signatures.

Maybe, but the file in question is pretty old.
I'm sure that signatures for it are being made long time ago.

Yes, that's what I would like to know.
I have 2 days left, even though I never activated it.

Beta has (I think) a new option to handle this, but curious to know whether it corrects the activation bug. Would try downloading the beta?

    Hi Kees,

Build 127 fixes the bug, it does not restore the accidentally activated free licenses. Figuring which licenses were accidentally activated and which ones were intentional is not simple task at all.

I could reset ALL the Free Licenses that were activated 28 days ago (30 day trial minus 2 days left) but then you have to click on the Free License button again (which is only visible in the Beta).

I'll get back to in a few minutes as you gave me an idea ;)

I worked out an idea to restore the free license. I will discuss this tomorrow with the rest of the team to see if it won't break anything. Must sleep now.

    • Oh, I like this if it relates to the virus attack I had last week which stopped Hitman scan 52% of the way through. I'll wait for my paid license to auto update.

      Thanks, Erik.

Build 127 just went public. I could not get the free license restore in this build in time :( . I will work with the team to reinstate accidentally activated free licenses in the coming days. In the meantime, contact me for a key when needed as mentioned in the previous post.

    Hitman Pro help, please

I ran a scan of Hitman Pro because my computer started going crazy. It found malware and one or two trojans. Do I need to quarantine them or delete them?

Ok, so on the side it has "delete" by them. So, just let it delete them? Sorry, if that's a dumb question. lol!

    Re: Hitman Pro help, please

Yes, just let Hitman Pro delete the files. If (some of) the files are infected system files they will be replaced by safe versions of the same files. When there is no safe version of the infected file, Hitman Pro will leave the infection on the system to prevent system malfunction - it will show up again in subsequent scans (to make you aware).

But if you open the details (click on the little arrow on the left of each threat item) you can read some additional information about the malware, like malware name and if it belongs to the operating system.

Pretty much everyone who upgrades from build 126 to 127 might need the free license restored. It got broken on both of my systems.

    Don't sweat it.
Being able to kill ZeroAccess is much more important.
Putting emphasis there is entirely valid imao.

    ZeroAccess

    Talking about ZeroAccess ...

I just published an article on our blog and made a video of Hitman Pro fighting off the ZeroAccess code injection attack.
