There is no difference between a free, trial, paid or expired license regarding the scan and detection capabilities of Hitman Pro. Only removal is affected by the license.

Thanks for the explanation! :thumb: I figured it was just a bug, and your compensation offer is much appreciated. :)

Since I never turn my systems off will there be a option for scheduled scan in the future? I would pay for this.

    Hi Erik,

Seems the private messaging system is down right now. I've been trying all day to get the 30 day trial to work to clean a rootkit that no other scan seems to be detecting. Would it be possible to get a trial key?

    Thanks.

I have HitMan Pro on 2 computers. One auto updated to Build 126 and the other wouldn't update. I tried re-download and it got even weirder. It doesn't show on the desktop and if I do a search, it shows up in Documents and Settings but I can't find it there.

    Re: Free License woes

I must have got lucky in June 2010, then. Free 30-day trial of HMP downloaded from CNET scanned and removed redirect virus, rootkits and all. When free trial expired, I bought it. Or, maybe I signed up for a 30-day license? I needed help immediately at that time. Couldn't fool around.

Nice you will be updating to allow scheduled scans. Look forward to that.

    Thank you.

Well removal is an essential feature, so really disappointed to lose the options for one removal when needing it.

PrevX first release had infinite trial also, they dumped it later, but were open in their explanation. Guess the infinite trial served its marketing purpose.

Why submitting dual messages: HMP was never intended to use as unlimited trial and Oeps sorry backend data base mistake, sorry.

What is it: correcting usage which HMP developers had not anticipated or programming error ? Get your act together on the communication message

Its not a mistake of the backend but a programming error in the .exe that auto activates. I can reset the Free Licenses on the license servers but that will not help the return of the Free License button. You have to delete the local license files as well. That is for some too complex so giving free licenses is the easiest option.

Compared to Prevx (or MBAM for that matter) they get their money from the OnAccess components. Hitman Pro doesnt have that (yet). So we need to get our money differently to stay alive and pay the salaries, hosting, hardware and other bills. Hitman Pro 2 was a one man operation (making it in its free time) but with version 3 we have an office and a lot of people on the pay roll.

Erikloman, please help. As I stated in my post, I have paid for both copies of Hitman Pro but can't get it to load on one computer. It was on the computer but wouldn't update. So I tried a re-install. Now I can't get it to load.

Hitman Pro is just an EXE file. If you downloaded it you just start it.

    • Do you get an error when starting it?
    • Maybe your system is infected with a rogue? In that case, start with Force Breach (see this movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6eRWTv2STk).
    • What also could be is that your EXE file association is broken (due to previous infection). Did that computer had an infection?

I can download the program. When I run it ,it will attempt an update then just go away. There is no desktop icon an it isn't listed in programs. The computer has never been infected. It had build 125 on it and scan had been run.

Erikloman. That downloaded. But still strange. I went to (Downloads) and ran it. Still no desktop icon. Had to go to (Downloads) and made a shortcut for desktop. Still not listed in all programs. If I double click desk top icon I have to tell it to run. I went into settings an put in my license key but that didn't help. It's there but not really loaded. Maybe to be of some help. I have Windows XP up to date Avira AV., Malwarebytes, Superantispyware 5,and Sandboxie

Do you have Administrator privileges? Are you running Hitman Pro inside Sandboxie?

I understood that, no argueing with that, I was refering to the answer in this message https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1901127&postcount=3253 this specific part about reverting the trial activation

Now you are saying you can revert it, but it is to difficult for the average user to remove the local lisence file

The ambiguity of this answer raises other questions again, but let's leave it there, the good thing is, you have offered to compensate, I have just two questions:

    a) For what period (in time) will the offer last to get a free trial when runnig into trouble for the first time?

    b) Hitman Pro's unique qualities are advanced heuristics and smart malware forensics combined with a cloud multi vendor cloud blacklist check: considering this strength, it would be a piece of cake to find the lisence file of HMP (after all you know where you store it) check wether activiation was after the HMP release with the bug and remove the lisence file? Ten lines of code maximum when you ask me, (the man hour cost of the manual compensation problably exceeds this effort) so why not use this incident to strengthen your imago?

I would like to report that after the computer sat for a couple of hours,on, but not being used everything is working. The desktop icon is there and Hitman Pro is listed in all programs. Can't explain, but all's well that ends well. Thank you for your help.
