Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

This happened to me as well. I've temporarily uninstalled Hitman Pro until they resolve this issue (I'm quite annoyed by automatic start-up scan).

Currently we are unable to reproduce this issue. Please PM me so we can further investigate.

This is fixed in Build 72 (soon to be released).

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

We just released build 72 of Hitman Pro 3.5.1. Here are the release notes:

    • Fixed a problem reading a specific fragmented $MFT table which caused a scan to complete under 10 seconds.
    • Fixed the inability to disable daily scanning on certain computers in Settings. Thanks to firzen771.
    • Fixed determining the initial state of the 'Create restore point' checkbox in Settings.
    • Fixed handling high DPI font sizes.
    • Added Greek language texts to the user interface. Thanks to Ippokratis.

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

I am still unable to permanently disable the daily startup scan, as well as the creation of restore points. I am using Windows 7 RTM x64.

EDIT: Nevermind. It seems that the version is not yet updated for x64. I downloaded a fresh copy from the website, which is currently Build 70.

If I purchase a subscription for HP and then upgrade my OS to Windows7 will my original subscription still be vaid for the new OS?
    Thanks.

Could you please update the downloads in your website? It still shows Build 70.

We have released build 73 (both x86 and x64).

New in build 73 is the Macedonian language.

Yes. No other changes. We received the Macedonian an hour after we released build 72.

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

I tried out hitman pro and prevx today on a pc that of mine that has lots of downloaded infected files. Prevx detected 17 infections while HP only detected 9. Also the 17 detected by Prevx included the same 9 that HP detected.

Also about the Full scan in prevx: Is it simply a more thorough scan than deep scan or is it more like a complete scan that checks everything (all files and folders).

And do cloud scanners compare the hash of files they scan on "my pc" to hashes located in their databases of files previously scanned which were marked as clean?

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

Hitman Pro just scared me pretty well!

I never used this program before, installed it and started the scan. Because I thought it would take some time I went for half a minute in my kitchen, leaving the computer alone. Coming back I see that Hitman Pro is uploading many, many .exe (?) files from my computer to their 'cloud?!? What the hecko_O

And this is default behavior? I can't believe this!? :thumbd: - I think it's pretty scary that a program just 'steals' (uploads without any question!) my programs (or data!?) from my computer to theirs. Frankly .. I am shocked!

The worst thing now is: I didn't find any log file WHICH files were uploaded? - BTW: I had 'luck' to see this while Hitman Pro did it's 'cloud' work, 2 minutes later I wouldn't have known that such things happened at all!?

I am really shocked ... who knows what data (?) is gone now and what's done with that in some dubious cloud! - And no logfile? That's not good behavior for any security program. o_O

    How this happened:

G-Data 2010 was such a pain in the .... I watched it scanning forever, it slowed down everything, websurfing was a pain for example ... can't understand at all why this av is so highly acclaimed being 'light' ... so I deleted that and just wanted to try Hitman Pro ... while getting something to drink .. I'll never do that again! :(

I am back to Avira and PrevX. That is really light, works perfectly fine and both AV ask me if I want to upload something before doing it!!!

Re: Anyone tried out Hitman Pro?

its a cloud av scanner and this is cloud scanning

have you tried virus total.... you upload a suspect file to be scanned by multiple av's....do you lose the file that you uploaded no....its similar but more efiicent imho.
