Question: How does HMP handle with file infectors like Virut/Sality?
Will it clean the infected files by deleting just the virus code of them so that they can still be used?

The new version runs fine here, btw. :)

Hitman Pro cannot clean but restores system files with the original file. 3rd party files are deleted as Hitman Pro cannot clean file infectors like Virut. Every file is infected differently so cleaning is hard. Even AVs have a hard time detecting virut infected files.

If you find Virut you could use a dedicated Virut desinfector. But those usually miss a few files so the best way to deal with Virut is a reinstall.

EDIT: Not every file can be clean because Virut has several bugs causing file to be damaged beyond repair. From McAfee:
    My advice: reinstall.

    Hope this helps.

Just auto-updated to build .125 here.

    Build 125 (2011-06-19)

    * Fixed a crash while scanning miniport drivers on FAT32 filesystems.
    * Updated SQLite library.

For some reason mine won't update. When I open it it says (update is invalid).

I think the download is incomplete. If you start Hitman Pro again it will retry the download.

Please let me know if that helps.

I got that last night too. I couldn't even use it. The only way I could get it to work was to delete it and go download the latest version from their web site.

I also did that yesterday. I was going to do it again but the web site still shows 124. I just tried it again and it updated to 125.

The download server is feeding 124 and the update server is feeding 125. I will update the download server asap.

The download server is still feeding build 124. But when you download 124 it will automatically update to 125.

We are updating the download server a.s.a.p.

    Hope this helps.

    I am running v3.5.9 Build 125, WinXP, SP3.
As noted here about six days ago, I am having quite a substantial hanging problem with HMP.
To give you an idea of what I mean by substantial,
the default scans take 10+ minutes to complete.
The problem is, it takes about 6 minutes to get to 99%
and then 4 minutes to finish.

Is HMP able to detect "man in the middle/browser" attacks?
If so, will a quick scan suffice?

    Thanks

I just saw this happen earlier today. HMP was getting to 99% and then getting
stuck on two .dll files of K-Meleon. I cancelled the scan on both occasions, then
did a manual RClick scan on both in Program Files, and then re-scanned without
issue, but remains to be seen if problem reappears.

In light of the problem that Page42 is continuing to have, I can say that I no longer have the hanging problem with the current version, i.e. build 125.

    No.
The quick scan may help with malware installed due to that.
