Sorry if this has been asked before... Is there any way to prevent HMP from targeting cookies?

Also, upon booting HMP kept coming up alerting me of an "tmp.edb" as malicious and needing to be deleted. I deleted it a couple of times but the next reboot same story.

I think this was probably a false positive, as both prevx and malwarebytes didn't think that there was anything wrong with the file.

    File was located at: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\tmp.edb
Probably a legitimate windows search temp file?

    I am running windows 7 ult. x64 SP1, HMP 118

    thanks

You can disable this on the first tab under Settings (see Settings button on welcome screen).

We have this in investigation. Won't be solved though in the next release as build 119 will be released tomorrow.

Any sign of Hitman Pro (un-registered) running at startup, although i´ve selected that option...

    Anyone with the same problem?

    Thanks

It runs daily. So at least 24 hours need to be passed. So rebooting 3 times a day will only trigger a scan once.

How can I exclude a file in HitmanPro Build 119? In the attached image I have a file that is a sample for a slideshow created from FastStone Viewer (Sample.exe). The only option I get is "Cancel".

Another is SAS_80669284.COM which is part of the Superantispyware portable program but HMP says is suspicious. I scanned it via VT and it's clean. As with video-converter-platinum.exe which is Wondershare Video Converter Platinum.

    Any ideas....o_O

I am not sure if Hitman Pro even works, because in all the time I been using it, it's never detected a single threat.

How about you try it on an infected computer and then tell me if it "even works". I have scanned hundreds and hitman always does its job.

If your computer is not infected, what you want it to reveal?

It is in my opinion the best on-demand scanner that exists, because it actually detects malware and is fast and intelligent checks.

On Youtube even has several videos in which he discovers many malwares. In my opinion, would be more interesting you see better facts before judging the program.

    Just my opinion.

I apologize if it has been asked before, but this thread already has so many pages.

I noticed that there's a greyed option in Hitman Pro that is ticked by default which will make Hitman Pro send unknown files to the cloud. I wonder why it's a greyed option and not an optional option (sorry the redundancy :D)? Does it only happen in the free version (the greyed option, that is)?

Also, I'd like to ask to the Hitman Pro team what would be necessary to translate Hitman Pro into my mother tongue? This way, I could make relatives use it and understand it better.

    Thanks!

Those greyed out options are more advanced options which will became available (i.e. you change them) in one of the future builds. Not sure when they will become available exactly.

Thank you for the feedback. It will be great to have the option to decide whether or not to upload unknown files.

A bizarre set of circumstances, but I thought this was worth bringing up.

I've been poking at a program that I've been suspicious of, but to stay safe I've been messing with it via Wine in a Linux environment instead of on my windows Machine. In order to analyze the files better I installed Hitman through Wine - Which I know is not supported. Nevertheless, it did run, and it showed me this:

I'm not sure what to make of it. The rootkit in question is what I'm most worried about - it's the wordpad.exe included with the standard wine installation, and Jotti's says it's clean. I was unable to do much more than identify the malware with Hitman under Wine.

I'm not particularly asking for help getting Hitman running under Wine, so much as I'm curious about the veracity of it's analysis on this file.

I DO NOT intend to bash any product NOR want to badmouth it. Prevx is quite prone to FP's. So I don't think you should be worried, since that's the only engine flagging it.
