Clean out your temporary and TIF files. Go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure these 3 are checked and then press *ok* to remove:

    Temporary Files
    Temporary Internet Files
    Recycle Bin
    ..........................
Next, Make sure your PC is configured to show hidden files

Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
    Click "Apply" then "OK"

Reboot your PC into SAFE MODE

How to start the computer in Safe mode
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...2001052409420406?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam

Delete the following files and/or folders named in bold

    C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools (entire folder, if found)

    C:\Program Files\SEP entire folder

    C:\documents and settings\titus\local settings\temp\oWWw.exe

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\dp-him.exe

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\tpmchz.exe

spompntw.exe (You'll have to do a search for this file)

    C:\Program Files\Web_Rebates (entire folder)

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\hywwwu.exe

C:\WINDOWS\system32\explorer.exe IMPORTANT: Do NOT confuse this file with the valid explorer.exe which is located directly in the Windows Folder (the bad one to delete is in the system 32 folder)

Reboot back into normal mode. Scan once more with HijackThis and post a new log please :)

Here is the HJT log that i just got. No more blue screen, but now I'm getting some other stuff. Say I type in www.msn.com into the address bar, it says it can't open the search page and changes the address to http://www.www.msn.com.org. And if I just type in msn into the address bar I end up at http://www.msn.org with a page showing AdultHost.com

Hope you can help with this (Damn my dad needs to stop looking at porn on the computer!!)

    Thanks a Million!!
    Nick

Also I just ran CWShredder and everytime I run it it says it removed CWS.Svchost32. I don't know if that could be part of the problem, just thought I'd include possibly more helpful info.

Alright so I went through and downloaded a bunch stuff from the Window Update page under the recommended section. I also went and deleted SEP and WebRebates from the Add/Remove programs list and restarted and lo and behold that whole MSN issue is gone. (Hallelujah!!) Also I ran CWShredder again and I had no issues (not even CWS.Svchost32). So I think that everything is clear.

Here is the most recent HJT log.

    Hi Nick,

Glad you made out OK. All of my email notifications from this board were held up all weekend at my ISP and I only just now got them.

The only item I see in your log is that startup entry in the registry:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WebRebates0] "C:\Program Files\Web_Rebates\WebRebates0.exe"

Did you checkmark it and then *fix checked*; reboot into safe mode and delete the folder: C:\Program Files\Web_Rebates
