    Hi,

No Spyware Blaster protects your computer using "kill bits" this adds blocks so that the spyware cannot install, this is added to the registry and does not require the program to be open.

However Spyware Guard does need to be open all the time to protect yuor computer, as it has a "real-time scanning engine" this is very much like an Antivirus or firewall that needs to be open.

But to answer your question NO spyware blaster does not need to be open to protect your PC, you can close it safely.

But spyware guard does need to be open.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Gareth
