one thing that is important for me in a download manger is the GUI so i was wondering if anyone knew of any download manger whose download dialog box resembles that of IE or firefox. in other words, it lets u browse for the folder rather tham using a tree view to select the folder.

    firefox/IE (both are identical):

i currently use GetRight but it isnt free.

I believe Mass Downloader has a download dialog box that resembles IE. It is also one of the best.

i use downloadstudio simply the best download manager i've used with probably the most features (link http://www.conceiva.com/products/downloadstudio/default.asp)

here is a screenshot of the gui

    http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/3489/11wt1.jpg

    works with

    Opera
    Firefox
    Mozilla
    Netscape
    Internet explorer

It includes over 12 specialized downloading tools:

    Single file downloader
    File range downloader
    Web site downloader
    Streaming media downloader
RSS feed, blog and podcast downloader
    Audio and video recorder
    URL sniffer
    Flash detection and capture
    Web site explorer
    RSS feed reader
    File browser, viewer and organizer
    Easy-to-use Quick Start

imo you will not need any other download manager

Note compared to other download managers it's a huge download file and takes around 21 mb when installed (but what do you expect with all these features)

    hope this helps WSFuser

Personally ive found leechget more to my taste than mass downloader (which i have a registerd copy for).It seems to integrate better with firefox for me than massdownloader did on my system. Its also free if you only use 1 download simultaneously.Screen shots here.

so far, mass downloader has the best GUI for me. its simple and customizeable unlike download studio. also download manager integrationd does not matter for me as i just use flashgot extension.

I also use flashgot with firefox and mass downloader , but found it failed to respond on occasions ,whereas leechget seems to integrate better.Of course this could just be particular to my system , but id still trial it a while before i bought it (unless your using the free version)

i like leechget best too, but the old 2004 version which they had at Snapfiles; you can have more concurrent downloads and there's more options then the newer versions. i've no idea about the GUI though, it's got lots and lots of setup options too

I like and use that one too. :)

I also use the last good freeware version of leechget, before they implemented the single download restriction. o_O

    Another vote for LeechGet.
Me too. Personal Edition 2004 v1.1 is limited to 8 simultaneous downloads (more than enough for me).

Net Transport v1.90.267 was the final no nags free version
as far as I'm aware. No install once unpacked

Works great with Flashgot & Firefox

Was a confirmed Mass Downloader user until I found the above

I use Free Download Manager with very good results, been using it since last year from its initial release 1.0, it has video and Zip preview and has mirror search and integrates well with either of the browsers.
