    So I've got OS Selector/disk director suite install on my computer because i was trying to set up an osx x86 dual boot. I gave that up for a while to install another version of windows onto a seperate partition of my hard drive. Setup was going fine and then it got to the part where it wanted to restart my computer. My computer booted and acronis came up with a "New OS config wizard" screen. I've tried going through the steps in that and tried cancelling it but the result is always the same. A message window pops up that warns me about installing an OS on a partition with disabled system folders. I click okay and then it freezes! I can move the mouse, but it won't do anything...it won't give me a selection screen...or boot into windows. I've no idea what to do!

    Is there a way to disable OS selector without being in windows? I just want to get back in to XP at this point!

    Hello Danica,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Partition and Disk Managing Software.

    You can use the Acronis Disk Director Suite Bootable Rescue CD in order to deactivate Acronis OS Selector. If you have not created that CD ten please fix your hard drive's MBR as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

    If this does not help then please create Acronis Report in the way described below:

    - Download and run Acronis Report Utility;
    - Select the "Create Bootable Floppy" option;
    - Insert a blank floppy disk in the A: drive and proceed with creation of the bootable floppy;
    - Boot the computer from this diskette and wait for report creation process to finish;
    - Collect the report file from the floppy.

    Please create an account, then log in and submit a request for technical support. Attach the collected report file to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.
