    my guess ... incompatible dll version

    make sure that the exe (PortExplorer.exe) version num and dll (windows\system32\dcsws2.dll) version num match

    if they don't match .. best way i can think of to fix it is to full uninstall (ensuring the PortExplorer install directory is removed, and the dll is removed) and reinstall
