    Hi Anupam welcome to Wilders.

Wilders no longer provides support for Hijack This logs, and as such you will need to download and run “Hijack This” found here and post your log at one of the forums found at A-SAP.

The two bigger forums for HijackThis log processing, (meaning they process more log threads each day than most others) are: SpywareInfo.com and CastleCops.com. Be sure to read their posting policy in the links at their log review forum sections prior to posting.

Once your system is clean you should take a look here: Why did I get infected in the first place? Also, for further discussions on security and how to make your system that much stronger, see here and here

    Cheers

    Hey anupam,

Since Wilders no longer offers one-on-one system cleaning services concerning browser highjacks....hopefully the suggestions below will provide a fix.

The two bigger forums for HijackThis log processing, (meaning they process more log threads each day than most others) are: SpywareInfo and CastleCops. Be sure to read their posting policy in the links at their log review forum sections prior to posting.

If you feel you would like to attempt to clean your system by yourself....Please follow the below link and report back your findings.

    This link---> General Cleaning

Edit:Yeah....what Blackspear said. To slow again :(

Ok, I have previously had friends ask me to secure their computer from Adware and sypware before and this is what I usually do and it tends to be very effective.

First, after downloading the latest updates, I would run the latest version of Ad-Aware I can get my hands on and perform a full system scan. I would then run a search in spybot search and destroy after aqcuiring the latest updates, removing any nasties. I would imunize my system using the imunize feature in spybot search and destroy.

I would then install Spyware Blaster and block every nasty I can to prevent anything being downloaded again. I would delete all tempory history, all cookies and all other tempory files. Maybe install and run Fast Clean by Eshinesoft.

However, there is the possibility that by removing components with such tools, you may find that there is actually a simple uninstall application which could become corrupted by such tools being run.

As you have a TOOLBAR installed the best option is as stated in post number 2 and 3, that being:

You will need to download and run “Hijack This” found here and post your log at one of the forums found at A-SAP.

    Cheers

Blackspear, what advantages are there to using 'Hijack This' over adware removal tools?

Quite simply that Adaware and Spybot are entirely incapable of fully removing many of the more intractable spyware infections out there. HJT is an analysis and removal tool which will help diagnose the condition and manually remove it, in conjunction with more specialist tools.

The first thing to do is diagnose the problem; if it is simple and AdAware can do the job then so much the better - but multiple infections often occur and when you try and delete things that don't want to go, matters can be made worse. It is like squashing cockroaches, you kill one and it is replaced by half a dozen more!

It is at times like these that WinPatrol can be of help. It would warn you of the adverse changes and allow you to delete them (on a reboot if necessary); it also allows you to 'kill' multiple processes simultaneously thus helping prevent infections incorporating themseves into the system. It is of limited use if you install it AFTER you've been infected though.
