    REGEDIT4
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\Autorun.inf]
    @="@SYS:DoesNotExist"

this is the script that i named noautorun.reg and merged it into the registry.
It worked great, autorun was disabled.

but i now i want to re-enable autorun to do its thing, but it wont happen.

please help me reverse this registry entry!

I edited it without smilies and it should be good to go. ;)

As to your "reverse this registry entry"....

If there are no other problems causing this not to happen, you should be able to manually remove the @SYS:DoesNotExist string value or import the below info. That should remove the @SYS:DoesNotExist string value entry.

    EnableAutoRun.reg

    Hi,

As the original author of this hack, I guess it's up to me to know the answer here. :)

This file will completely reverse the changes. Note the "-" after the left bracket.

    Code:
    REGEDIT4
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\Autorun.inf]

    Enjoy...

Thank you Bubba for correcting my post!

    @ nickbrown
wow, i have to tell you Mr. Brown that your .reg entry has worked wonders for my friends, they were repeatedly getting infected with trojans using autorun.inf on USB sticks to jump onto their computers.
But with this registry hack, nothing autoruns, and they use it along with TweakUI (Microsoft power toys for XP) and its a great combination.

So, let me ask you this. Between the 'disable' and 'enable' .reg hacks, can i store both of them and toggle between the 2 to suit my needs?
I just want to be sure that i can go back and forth on these, because that would be awesome!

    Thanks again!

Yes, you can toggle between the two. I don't know from memory if you need to reboot after loading the REG file each time, but you can check that in a few seconds.
