All show same data. Only interpretation differs.
HDDExpert is somehow pessimistic has it raises alerts as soon as a single failure is reported, while other wait for "large" damage before triggering a warning.

Customization will be possible in a release to come.

In the list of "pros" for HDDExpert is "clear decoding" of readable value (instead of only raw normalized data)

I'll make this more subtile with "start of degradatation" / "light degradation" / "severe degradation" alerts rather one single "failure detected"...

How'd you get it to run, I can double-click on the app, and it shows up in Task Manager, but doesn't run the actual app..?!

EDIT: Nevermind, it decided to work today!

Is there a way to distinguish HDD faults from potential controller/cable issues? o_O

That's not easy. ECC/CRC errors are most likely internal to the unit (as self-reported by drive controller) as well as bad sectors.

compare to others is a little bit allarmistic \ pessimistic but considering my 2 hd are 10 years old is normal they are at the end of the life cycle :'(
With new HD it works well :thumb:

As others KC software there is one version (install version) with some adware (Mr. Katarn like us needs $$ to survive) but there are 3 version without AD, so uninstall it, look if there are some other strange program in your list and uninstall this entry and download Zer0 portable ZIP version. Problem solved

    Thanks for using Zer0.
PowerPack is an OPTIONAL sponsor that can be rejected during installation.
"Lite" & portable version have NO sponsor at all.
