Ewido Version 3 it is stable on my machine, and it is working like a champ. I guess it is not the case for all the beta testers. and NO ONE wants an unfinished product allthough it is working quite good. the resource is very gentle. no more hickups. a process scanner like boclean, and unicode support. and a few other enhancements I cannot think of it right now. and there seems to be a conflict with some members updating lately. I guess they sort it out real soon. it is worth waiting for the finished product. That I am sure of.

Ewido plus 3 has got now a
    - background process scanner like boclean) ,
    - improved memory module scanner,
    - unicode support (trojans with names from lets say asian countries)
    - faster and smaller updates-improved built in support
    - a resident scanner which you can disable without reboot,
    - upgrades/dates without reboot, proxy update (if you will),
    - faster scanning,
    - no problems at all (read slowdowns when copying, opening, deleting files/exe's/...) no resource issues.
    - a (theoretical) vulnerability fixed (explained on another thread),
    - detection of some missing visual basic trojans ,name escapes at the moment but now included in the beta since today :)

    - and sooo many more I do not know about ;)

So they fixed patching Vulnerability and it can now detect "All" of the Trojans from the Helios family.

The thing that I am most interested in is the background process scanner. I don't fully trust any file scanner because people can use different crypters or packers or other means to avoid detection. Even the "KING" Kaspersky can be beaten this way.

I want something that can detect and kill things as soon as they get unpacked and enter memory. BoClean is good at this but I have read elsewhere that the memory scanner has been beaten in the past because it was sometime not fast enough and allowed things such as a Hacker Defender rootkit to install and once a rootkit is installed it is "Game Over"....might as well reformat then

One of the last things that I need in my security arsenal is a extremely powerful real time memory scanner. I was very tempted to purchase BoClean because I feel they are the best at real time memory scanning (in my opinion) at this time and only getting better.

The question is whether Ewido's memory scanner can meet or exceed the protection level of BoClean. I guess only time will tell as various people put Ewido to the test after this new 3.0 is released.

I hope it is released soon. I am anxious to see how it works

Sorry "Rebasing Vulnerability" instead of "patching"

I been to Singapore many times, so I know all about Orchard Road. My worst mistake was bringing my Indonesian girlfriend to Singapore with me one time....that is all I did is shop and I hate shopping.....except for shopping for security software that is... :) Singapore is sort of my home base for going all over Asia. I usually go to Thailand; Philippines; Jakarta, Indo and Bali, Indo.

I one day want to get to Shanghai, Vietnam, and surprisingly I never been to Australia yet. This is vacation but my regular work is on ships and I just missed out on going to the shipyard in Perth one time a few years ago.

I think I am going to bring my laptop with me this time, though. The last time I was on vacation, I used to access my credit card accounts and email from internet cafe's. I did have one credit card number stolen but I was not sure if the number was stolen from a computer or from using it in the fairly shady business establishments all over Jakarta, Indonesia. Many businesses over there like taking your credit card in some back room for a few minutes to do the "transaction" and then return a few minutes later.

I have a wireless connection on my laptop so I can access all my accounts from my computer in Singapore. I was sort of hoping to grab the new Ewido before I go but I guess I might be somewhere in the jungle of Indonesia when it finally comes out.....better yet...maybe I'll be on the beaches of Bali :)

    Hey fish

    Thx for the file

I do have a question--i see an extra process running now --ewidoctrl.exe--

    what is that?

I noticed that it is using less resources so far--congrats

It's used for restarting the guard after it has been shut down, doing all the update stuff (-> no reboots required anymore) etc.
