    Wow :)

Offers like this don't come about often, especially for top-notch products like Avast! :)

Shame, I've tried everyday and yet, can't seem to win. Congrats for those lucky few :)

Is this the email you get if you win? Want to be sure before I open the file, because I would expect a "congratulations!" or at least a mention that you won a key.

Yes it is. Your license should be setup as an attachment. You just download it.

I got the same email and had the same question. So I double checked the Avast! facebook page and saw what looks to be my email address in the winners list.

Anyway, this is a great win and the best av I have tried. I did not install all the components- left off the firewall and a few shields (p2p, IM).

    Thanks Avast!

Wasn't it suppose for the e-mails not be displayed any longer? They did remove the lists the other day, but they're back in o_O

    -Edit-

Something rather quite odd. I won a key the other day, but my e-mail is not part of any of those lists? lol Not that I'm complaining, still... odd :D

You are correct, they did remove for a brief spell, then they began displaying once again under what they call a "blinded format". It appears that the last three letters of the email name is dropped, along with the @domain.com.

Your license is attached to your email and name. I doubt anyone is willing to give you that information.

There is no name associated with these prizes, just the email that each entrant used upon submission. I don't think there is any great concern about identity, especially if the entrant used a throwaway email addy.

Not true. Avast will email you your license code. Upon submitting it for activation in AIS it will be registered with your license code, email address and user name. Doesnt matter whos computer you install it on. If you use the license registration Avast sent who ever has it has access to that info directly from within Avast GUI.

    That's the operative phrase.
If I win a license prize in this contest and donate it to someone else, avast does not know my name.
    How could they?
They only know the email adress I used to win the prize.

Thats not what I was referring to. Reread. Anyone who asks for a license and someone shares that whoever received the license has the previous license holders information. I doubt anyone will randomly give that out especially at this site.

I think you are talking in circles.
There is no name associated with the licenses that are awarded.
cupez80 was asking if anyone cared to donate a prize to him.
Your response to him, that no one would do that because their name was associated with the license, was incorrect.

Another AVAST winner here. Just got online and there was the email saying I'd won.

Now, what to do? I'm really happy with the Bufferzone giveaway and have had it on board for a couple of weeks, but I like AVAST too. o_O

Don't know how AVAST IS plays with BZ on vista HP sp1 computer, 2G RAM.

*edit* I'm going with AVAST. I can't resist trying it out. Buzzerzone's free giveaway will be sitting on my other drive, but as seldom as I ever win anything, I've got to give it a shot. Now, if my wife would win, she could ditch that mcafee (still 5 months left on license) and her computer wouldn't slow to a crawl during updates and when running a scan.

I thought bufferzone was like sandboxie? Surely you can run avast and bufferzone together if your computer is fast enough :)

Actually a name is associated with the license. It is a license that shows "Marketing, winter promo Date Email address used by winner". If the winner of a license used a email address they use often/daily you would have a name. You can not know if the name used in the email address is real or not, so i agree with Whitedragon on this, i doubt any one will just donate the license they won.

My last post on this particular "identity issue"...

The license file says, "CustomerName=Marketing Winter Promo<emailused@whatever.com>".
This is not what I call "a name is associated with the license".

There will be 3100 winners, all named Marketing Winter Promo.

As I stated very clearly here, "There is no name associated with these prizes, just the email that each entrant used upon submission. I don't think there is any great concern about identity, especially if the entrant used a throwaway email addy."

whitedragon551 stated, "Your license is attached to your email and name".
It is not. It is attached to the email address each entrant used upon submitting his/her entry, and that's all.

And I've donated two licenses I've won to fellow Wilders members.

Don't worry about it, cupez80. You didn't start anything. ;)
Congratulations on the win, man! :thumb:
