GuruNet is it Spyware?

Have a friend that been having PC problems. He is on Gurunet most of the time when on the Internet. GuruNet I have register, but have not dowloaded the software. Everytime I go there with Mozilla the browser freezes up. I have had no problems logging in with IE. Bottom line is this spyware?

 

GuruNet appears to be a subscription search engine which you can use without special software (although it offers a toolbar and other addons to allow for faster access). If Mozilla is freezing on you then it may be an issue with active content (Java, Javascript, etc). Try disabling them and see if that helps.

The software they offer may track queries you make (like the Google toolbar does) so check the details of any privacy policies/EULAs beforehand.
