im surprised to see AVG being said as the worst GUI all the time,

i quite like it, its not brilliant with its settings-layout but the actual gui i think is ok, just not the best. :)

People are saying that AVG has the worst GUi because it is aesthetically hideous.

of course, i dont agree :)

even nod32's gui has one of the worst GUIs, settings in one place, more settings in another place, profiles for this and that. ANNOYING!!

Maybe, but at least Avast 4 Linux has one of the simpliest and cleanest GUIs ever. :D

And everything in my own language. ;)

    Best regards,

I always preferred AntiVir's GUI, icon and advanced settings. For a noob, I liked it best!!! AVG-Free didn't have many options and was (is) just PLAIN UGLY!!!

    Best GUI : Avira
    Most settings: KAV
    Worst GUI: AVG
Best taskbar icon: the Avira umbrella of course! It is soooo neat!

The Avira GUI is one of the cleanest, simplest I have encountered. It is easy to understand and use and that cannot be said for most AV GUIs. GUI matters greatly to me. I won't use AVG or Avast because of their GUIs. AVG's is so ugly and Avast's has everything including the kitchen sink in it. I love the simplicity of Avira's GUI and the red color. Red is my favorite color and it is nice to get away from the predominant blue color all over the internet. Avira's GUI connotes energy, alertness, all the things you want in a good AV. I have one gripe and that is that it is too difficult to add FP's to exclusions.

Kind of agree with you Mele liking AntiVir's GUI.

In the Exception window, there is a Browse button '...' that should be easy to set exclusion from scan?

I think there is no one on this forum more focused on GUI than me, to me a GUI must be good looking and handy otherwise I will refuse to use the app, no matter how many great features a certain tool has (AV/Firewall/HIPS).

    Best GUI: KAV/KIS
    Worst GUI: Bitdefender IS

Best GUI: Avira. It's perfect for me :)
Most Settings: Haven't played with enough of 'em to know.
Worst GUI: from the programs I have tried, I'd say AVG. It's just hard to find what I need and it looks soooo old.
    Best Taskbar icon: Avira.

    :)

In my opinion is important to know how GUI is important for users. Reading this thread and "AV screenshot therad" everyone can know how this SW part is important. And according to this SW houses should program sw with nice viewing and user friendly GUI, 'cause not only (but is obviously the very important thing) detection and cleaning are important.

    Best Regards.
