    OK I see, I just wondered if it was technically possible to connect your DVR or Smart TV to the wall socket with ethernet connection, which means they wouldn't need a direct connection to the modem.

    BTW, just to clarify something. I forgot that DECT phones can work both on VOIP and PSTN, so they aren't VOIP phones per say. But I was talking about older style corded phones that can only work on PSTN/ISDN, this is what my mom still uses. AFAIK, there aren't any corded phones for the consumer market that are compatible with VOIP.
